To me Metro played like a very pretty version of almost every FPS to date. Just.... normal. Good, but easily forgotten. Pretty, but basic.

Creeping through the brooding Chernobyl sky, knowing an artifact/missed group could drop you in a second in stalker was intense. It was outrageously tough at times, but I'd still replay it today whereas Metro was a one and done for me. Though the trailer lets me think it's an open world Metro game (more bullet spongy) than a more tactical STALKER game.

The original games had so much atmosphere and were really something special - they were also buggy, punishingly hard and inaccessible. However, I always preferred them to the Metro series, which had a similar setting but was a more linear experience.

When I first started and I barely understood what I was doing I was caught at night out on the plane with no light and no way to tell what the hell I was doing. I started hearing the dogs around me and I knew that I was screwed if I didn't get to safety soon. I saw a little campfire so I ran as fast as I could all the way to it and I sat down next to the campfire and the dogs chased me the entire way there but I made it. I sat there and listened to the guys talking and playing the guitar until the sun came up. It was kind of a seriously weird experience but cool.
I never cared about the stalker graphics. instead I loved the atmosphere, that russian feel. metro comes close but not quite, the overall game design. Very open world, great weapons available at the start if you can get to them. Later games added weapon mods as a leveling system. great exploration, fun finding secrets, run replaying areas to get better outcomes.

The original STALKER, with it's what, 6 years of delays, was one of the most underwhelming games ever, blah.

I wish they would have said something about the A-Life, I mean it's one important feature that made S.T.A.L.K.E.R. so appreciated.
Nucas wrote on Jun 13, 2021, 18:01:na I agree with op. It reminded of the old game just with better graphics. Indoor look great. Outdoor wasn't really shown. Movement and fighting looked really bad/underwhelming.
man i couldn't disagree more. this was the thing i saw that was most interesting so far, and the narrativized presentation was brilliant (especially for a game trailer)

Of all the top tier games shown, this was the least impressive to me.
The Back 4 Blood right after it looked way better. Also, That last game trailer looked great, too bad it's a console exclusive.
Hell, even the furry animal fighting game looked better than Stalker 2..lol
