Battlefield Gets Ex-Call of Duty GM [Jun 02, 2021, 4:36 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
IGN reports that Electronic Arts has appointed Byron Beede as SVP and GM of
the Battlefield franchise. Presuming this is correct,
Byron's LinkedIn
needs updating, as it still shows him at Activision Blizzard as the EVP and GM
on the Call of Duty series. Here's more:
IGN understands that, while Beede will be a part of getting this year's game and next year's mobile game over the line, his focus is on the future of Battlefield beyond them. Beede will report directly to Respawn founder Vince Zampella, who took over as head of DICE LA last year. DICE Stockholm GM, Oskar Gabrielson and EA European studios GGM David Rutter will see no changes to their positions.

Man having bots in the original BF 1942 was some good stuff. I wish they would have that as well. But they cannot sell cosmetics that way, using FOMO tactics. Even though they could easily paint that stuff onto bots and make people jelly anyways. Ahh well, wishful thinking.

It's a little curious the DICE guys even brought in CoD people; I mean yes they have had a ton of success, but BF series is the other end of the spectrum as far as shooters go, or at least it used to be. I guess newer CoDs have vehicles now? I am like 10 CoDs behind I think.

Agree, I think COD series is easily the most mindess and boring FPS series in existence, tiny maps people jumping and sliding around spamming laser guns zero recoil, zero gunplay, way too much HUD, terrible sound design, overpowered killstreaks. I want none of that in BF. None of it.

So this guy is a bit of a straggler eh? ... Wasn't in the exodus of 38 out of 46 Infinity Ward employees that left CoD for Respawn in 2010 (which was then acquired by EA in '17).
Does IGN has enough kneepads and chapstick to last until the next Battlefield game launches?
