Loved the first game, and this looks awesome. Except, with him being infected, I really hope there isn't some mechanic with a countdown timer where you have to deal with "turning" every so often. I hate that micromanaging nonsense, this isn't a survival game. Ah well, if there is, I'll probably just hack it out like I did with weapon degradation in the first game (another awful mechanic).

It's been awhile, but there was an infected plot device in the first game too, or was that Dead Island? It didn't come up too often, except in a few plot checkpoints basically. I'd really hate an actual timer too.

As Acleacius said, these guys weren't too keen on mods for their previous games, but I had an anti degradation mod too in DL1, that kept getting broken by patches. I suspect I'll use the same sort of thing for this game when it becomes available; weapons simply broke too fast to even be realistic, let alone fun.

Pfft, we won't get burned THIS time!

Seriously though, even if they just take the combat/movement system from the first game and make new maps, I'd still buy it eventually. It looks like they've added some cool stuff to both systems, so I expect to at least enjoy the combat grind, even if the story ends up being complete shit.

The Dec 7 release date does set off some massive red flags for sure. Hoping against hope that this isn't a buggy incomplete mess when it comes out. I don't care about story and all of that. I want Zombie Massacre Simulator 2021.

I loved the first game but after reading so often about the troubled production phase of this game, I am a bit concerned about DL2. I don't like this "You are infected" idea of DL2, though. This was already a nuisance in FarCry 2. And I don't care about any of this Avellone drama, I just care about the game.

The development reports are by far the more concerning part. Avellone had nothing to do with the original DL, but it was still very well received so his absence earns a shrug from me.

Just great, forced to play male and forced to be infected. Middlefinger

I'm not expecting much from the story and wondering if they spent the last 6 months removing, any work from avellone.
I have no doubt combat and exploration, both will be great. Fingerscrossed

I've bought at least 8 of Techland's games starting with Chrome, so I definitely admire most of their work.
But I also see them f*cking up pretty bad at times. In the original DL, they don't have a separate system for online and don't support mods.
So every time they patch (required to play on Steam unless you disable your internet) the game, it destroys my save games.
I've lost 100s of hours because I have to start over, almost every time they patch.
They clearly don't support modding so have to choose their extremely limited packs for different skins.

Hrm, still looks pretty good, I'm interested. I'm sure the story took a beating during their development cycle and firings, but I wasn't too impressed with the story in the first game anyway... it's a game about running around and jump kicking people and zombies off of buildings, and occasionally using some weapons.

EDIT: December 7th, 2021? I might even luck out in the Newegg lottery/shuffle and have a video card by then.
