Xbox Cloud Gaming for Windows 10 PC Testing

Microsoft announces it is rolling out limited beta testing of Xbox Cloud Gaming for Windows 10 PC and Apple Phones and Tablets starting tomorrow. Invitations are going out to select Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Members, with plans to continually expand the testing to eventually include all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Members. Here's more on how this will work:
Those who receive an invite just need a compatible Bluetooth or USB-connected controller or can use custom touch controls for more than 50 games to start playing and testing. In the early stages of the beta, we’ll be focusing on fine-tuning features and creating a consistent experience across platforms, while making sure games are running their best. For more information on how to play, an updated list of supported devices, and release notes, please visit our support hub.

This is an exciting step on our journey to bring gaming to the 3 billion players around the world. Thanks so much for helping us shape cloud gaming, from the early days in Preview to today, quite simply we couldn’t have done it without you.

Greedy Korporations love nothing better than renting "bundles" that are 99% cruft and 1% gold, just look at cable, streaming, music, and now games.

The future is a boot crushing a face, forever.

There were no "rental tapes". That was the whole point of the first sale doctrine. Once the VHS is sold, the owner can do whatever they want with it (like rent it out). Actually, once Blockbuster started taking over they actually negotiated profit sharing with movie studios such that Blockbuster paid significantly less for their movie copies than home users.

All this is to say this is why streaming services fucking suck ass, as the FSD doesn't apply to digital media. Every stupid service has its own sad collection of content that had to be haggled over with the movie studios, and movies are constantly coming and going from them.

Yeah, I mean, if everyone starts doing subscription based game rentals, they'll all have a huge catalog of games that no one wants to play, and you'll need 5 different subscriptions to play the 5 good games that came out that year. Just like it is now with all the video streaming services.

Yes and People didn’t understand licensing at the time. Ruin a rental tape and it was $80-$150ish to replace when that same tape was on sale at Walmart or Sears for $25.
Difference was one license allowed rentals the other was for personal use.

I just watched The Last Blockbuster. I had no idea a VHS was fucking $100 when they first came out, and that was the entire reason the rental business came about, and that there was a supreme court decision that ruled in favor of video rental stores.
