Out of the Blue

Thank you to Frans for quickly recognizing the missed opportunity for a better headline in yesterday's Earthbreakers story. I can't believe I didn't notice it myself, but I'm glad he caught that in time for me to change it. It takes a village, you know?

Bingo. Right now 85% of our crops are fed to livestock...

In the documentary The Game Changers, they show how you could free up a landmass the size of Africa if we simply ate the crops ourselves. People are so scared that they will miss out on something if they eat plant-based... but it's entirely unfounded. If anything your cuisine variety expands. Besides most fast food places have "chicken" or "beef" 50% of that is already soy and grain anyway... the other 50% being pigs assholes.
Unfortunately, meat consumption both total and per capita is increasing worldwide. 90% of people only care about two things: price and taste. So what must happen is that we must construct "meat" that is much more energy efficient, but is taste-indistinguishable from the real thing and is cheaper. I'm hopeful that cell-based lab-grown meat can do that since it's so much more energy efficient.

I will get either Pfzier or Moderna. I have it on reasonable authority the site is getting 2,000 doses of Pfizer and 3,000 of Moderna this week. Supposedly they are prioritizing the Pfizer towards younger recipients which increases the chances of Moderna for me.

It sort of reminds me of squid or seaweed, like you said it's all about the sauce. Chef

Well, it is pretty much a county by county situation. I live in central Illinois in a reasonably sized city of approx. 140k. As you might expect, in town it leans blue, out in the rural areas (this is corn and soybean country) it leans much more red. The overall effect is some shade of purple. The county board usually carries a majority of only 1 or 2 seats either way, currently blue. I haven't been too worried about it yet. I had figured I'd be lucky to get it in April, was kind of expecting to have to wait to May.

How about no? And we just feed the insects to our livestock instead: we'll save on crops, and still have foods that's not barf worthy.

Hell, it's not like the rich are going to be chowing down on these creepy crawly smorgasboards either.

While I agree Tesla's liability should be limited on this incident. I also think calling their drive assist "Autopilot" is inappropriate and dangerous.

It had nothing to do with the fact that NO ONE WAS IN THE DRIVERS SEAT?!? This is Darwinism in action. So Tide should be responsible if people eat Tide Pods? Mentos or Coke responsible if someone swallows a bunch of mentos and then driniks a can of diet coke? I could have driven three hours south, where they have doses to spare -- but decided not to. But locally there seemingly hasn't been enough to go around. Just yesterday I checked and there were no available appointments up to three weeks out. If they are even scheduling that far in advance, which was not clear. My friends and I don't know why there seems to be a lack of availability in our area. There was an announcement today that the number of doses being made available in our area was going to be going up. So, maybe the problem will be solved soon...
