Earthbreakers Takes a Break [Apr 17, 2021, 12:17 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
In a
statement on Steam, Petroglyph announces it is putting development of Earthbreakers "on
hold" (thanks
DSOGaming). The studio first announced this RTS/FPS hybrid in
late 2019. Now it says it received an offer it could not refuse to work on
another project. Petroglyph maintains it will return to Earthbreakers down the
road:
Everyone at Petroglyph sincerely appreciates all of your support and enthusiasm for Earthbreakers. Since starting this project last year we have been approached by a publisher to work on an exciting new game that has required all our available resources, including the majority of the Earthbreakers team. This means that for now, we need to place Earthbreakers on hold while we focus our full attention in making this new project as great as it can be. We still believe in Earthbreakers and will keep you appraised as to when we will resume development.

I remember when this was announced I was pretty excited until I watched the video. Crappy kind of cartoon look, felt like a PlayStation or Xbox low cost download.
Also I remember how the C&C shooter was kind of fun but the lack of any good feel to the shooting and frankly lack of anything that was fun for more than one or two plays.

Big loss, the only thing they ever published that was anywhere near substantial was Gray Goo, and even it was rather lightweight. 8-bit whatever series, pure throwaway shovel ware with a joke of an editor built in. SW Empire at War, 3rd rate RTS with stupidest space combat representation ever. Forged Battalion, another partially fledged out light weight RTS rehash of Warzone 2100's design your units meme.
So now they are working on some lightweight MMORPG styled lobby/platform for another cash shop.

I hate to say this... but would be a great time for EA to step in and offering funding and a license...
