It was the Witcher games, particularly the Witcher 3, that put CDPR firmly on the map. The success of CP2077 has almost nothing to do with CP2077, itself, but was obtained by people who believed that CDPR would never market a game inferior to Witcher3, in content and bugs, and that is what propelled CDPR to their record sales this year, imo. Some 13 million people (strangely) pre-ordered the game on the basis of CDPR's reputation with the Witcher games, alone. It will be a litmus test with the release of their next game--whenever and whatever that will be. Plus the market is much larger now than it was in 2015, they did not release W3 for consoles (immediately--or did they?), with many more people playing games in 2020 instead of socializing with their friends and relatives because of the C-19 fear/scare/irrational panic. CDPR's next game will tell the tale.
It is well known that I cannot err--and so, if you should happen across an error in anything I have written you can be absolutely sure that *I* did not write it!...;)
