CDPR Wants to Sell Cyberpunk 2077 for "Years to Come"

CD PROJEKT RED President and Joint CEO Adam Kiciński tells Reuters he doesn't see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077, and that the developer is working on improving the sci-fi RPG to the point where it can be sold for years to come:
“I don’t see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077. We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come,” Kicinski said.

CD Projekt released a patch for Cyberpunk 2077 last month, and Kicinski said the new 1.2 patch was a step towards the game’s return to the PlayStation store and that the Polish games maker had “friendly relations” with Sony.

I'm looking forward the free standalone DLC where you get to be a part of TraumaTeam, crashing in to revive some platinum member. It will take awhile, but we'll get there and we'll be happy about it.

Why does it matter to them what we know in an honest review. You want your business put out in the public. In the end it is still a game, not like the water system was poisoned.

They fucked this one up and how slowly they are moving post-launch, unless they have huge silent plans right now about a "directors cut" or something that game is just going to be a more polished version of what we have and that is way under most peoples initial expectations for the game.

Interview not review, Sean Murray even came out and explained what happened. It's part of building trust, because in the day of review bombing and gamers holding grudges it would be nice, especially when as I stated ya had a Top Dog say "The PC Version Was Fine". It's insult to injury.

Can you point me to where Sean Murray explained what happened. I would love to see what he had to say.
Also CDPR may wan to seell Cyberpunk for years, but that's how long I think it's going to take to fix.

Apparently there's a new patch today, though I haven't downloaded it yet from GOG.

Since I'm a bit disappointed with the main story, I mostly just use a console command to unlock the lockdown.
Then wonder around exploring and doing quests. You can also pull in any NPC as a companion with a solid mod.
I guess it's a secret since there's only 1 convertible in the game, but it's fun to grab the Targa and Alt as a companion.

I can't know for sure of course, but I feel extremely confident that CDPR will add to PC CP77 till it's an excellent work of art a la Witcher, and hopefully publish sequels too, and correct the console problems.

Don't forget the amazing free Witcher enhanced versions and content year after year that no one expected.
Like Larian. What other studios do that ? Hello Games, and ...
Also that Skyrim, Morrowind, Oblivion, etc. had some dire problems at launch but they turned out to be classics (plus stellar fan modding).
I think that's probably the way it will go but it's still right to call out anti-consumer business practices. Personally I waited for Cyberpunk 2077 to go on sale and for the 1.2 patch before jumping in. For what it's worth, I've found it to be excellent so far. It's still a little rough around the edges but I've still loved it nonetheless. I get 60-80fps with full raytracing but prefer playing with it disabled where it runs over 100fps.

The PC version was not fine, it was also not nearly as bad as you would insist. The reality is, and always has been, this game should not have been released on last gen peasant box's, just like Fallout76 or Anthem!

Comparing this game to Fallout76 or Anthem is just plain wrong and unfair. Compared to those two "games" Cyberpunk2077 has the actual potential to be a great game, once bugs are fixed and the game is polished up some more. I will agree that it was a clusterfuck of a launch but the core game is fantastic, the openworld needs a lot more work, and the numerous bugs need to be ironed out. With that said it's a diamond in the rough, which neither Anthem nor F76 are. (I won't event touch upon the fact that those two games are multiplayer games, and CP2077 is singleplayer)

Anthem's problems had nothing to do with the platforms it launched on, and all about Bioware's bad management of its development.

And Fallout 76 would've been a dumpsterfire ANYWHERE it was released. Bethesda just wanted to doubledip by making us pay for a multiplayer component that should've ben in FO4 from the start.

Clearly the game, even the PC version needed at least 6 more months, a year if you count all the promises made and not kept.
I.e. multiplayer.

They flat out said that Multiplayer wasn't going to come out later and was not planned with the initial game.
I was pretending to talk from his perspective, then rationalized because he was saying the PC was ok/acceptable that means he really knew the console wasn't.

Because they pretended they didn't know the console was bad in the beginning, iirc from their initial responses at release.

The 6 months and year estimates were mine, guessing from actually playing the game several times. Sorry for the confusion.

All good but next time I'm getting out the water spray bottle... *insert evil glare here*

And I hope they do more with the game. The city is MASSIVE and has tons and tons of space that can be used for many more stories (which will be easier that the game systems are in place).. I just hope it doesn't become like GTA 5/Online where ya have almost half the map empty and devoid of content.

I played the game start to finish with the day one patch. I am not insisting anything, just going by what their head person said in the video. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder could see that the game wasn't fine, but was it a total cluster on PC nope, and for once it was nice that even though the game had problems on release, the PC version was "the best" version.

Please don't put words in my mouth.

Finally some clarity.

It's keeping one foot in the past that fucked up this launch.

What's worth remembering amidst this seeming clusterfuck, is that they chose to build the game for the future, even if they shipped most copies for the past. There's a lot of design decisions that favoured pushing things forward that broke current consoles, reminds me of Assassins Creed Unity.

Would you rather live in a world full of games designed to run on 8-year-old hardware? Or hardware that you'll be getting next year?

I wholeheartedly applaud CDPR for taking the risk. It's like when a kid tries a sweet stunt on a skateboard and eats pavement, it's grotesque to see the compound fracture, but you have respect for them trying it at all.

The safe thing to do would be make a game that was designed for 2013 hardware. They would have sold a ton, made a billion dollars, and everyone would be happy. But it would be a shadow of the game we have today, bugs and all.

Yepper, that's about the size of it. We'll see if they've learned from this and redeem themselves with their next game which I'm presuming will be Witcher related.
