Out of the Blue

I've been looking for a new mouse since switching to a Corsair keyboard, as it doesn't make sense to load giant software bundles from both Logitech and Corsair to run both peripherals. I was fascinated by the claims of ultra-low latency from the newly launched Corsair Sabre Pro gaming mouse. It was a little daunting that the reviews described its top-end CPU requirements, as I'm still running an ancient i5-3570 CPU (and will be for the foreseeable future amid a chip crisis). But obviously that's only a problem if you crank it up to its most ludicrous polling rate. It has the shape I wanted, boasts the very light weight I prefer, and even has a super-soft cord for unimpeded movement. I got myself one, and am very pleased. It actually seems fine at the higher polling rates (proof of how little CPUs improve over the years). And at 8000 Hz it allows me to fire weapons before I even pick them up. Science!

Scientific Round-up

Very happy I committed to the upgrade, and I figure I'm set for another 5 or 6 years.
I can’t believe Cooler Master is still in business. Normally you’re doomed to fail when you make a bullet proof product like the Hyper 212 and charge a reasonable price.
And lower your head in shame , letting that sandisk hang back there. Wink
That’s a sweet build.
I wouldn’t have believed the results would have been that good.

The PC was a 4 year old 6th gen Intel Core i7 6700. Now I knew this CPU was holding me back a bit, but I didn't realize how much.

A few weeks ago, the planets aligned, and all the parts were in stock for a new AMD Ryzen 7 5800X DIY system. I am stunned at the performance improvement which I show in some before and after benchmarks of my favorite games here, and you can scroll up for a parts list, and scroll down for my trial and tribulations getting Resizable BAR enabled.

https://www.pcabusers.org/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=64954&hilit=core+i7+6700&start=15#p374186

I knew I was CPU limited on the old system, but since we've been told for so long that the GPU is the main magic sauce in gaming, I was going in expecting/hoping for just a 25-30% increase. I honestly would have been happy with that. What I actually got was a 100-150% increase in my favorite games. I suspect a lot of that has to do with PCIe Gen 4.

I game on a 3440 x 1440 monitor, and I easily maintain 150 FPS in most games now with ultra settings. It's only Valheim and MS Flight sim that give this system a run for it's money. But Valheim can maintain 100FPS at full eye candy now, and FS is a decently playable 50 FPS with high settings.

Actually they're both Mallards. The missing one with the distinctive plumage is the drake, and the brown one is a hen.

We got Pfizer. First injection 5 days later cold like symptoms for a day, felt fine after. Second injection next day had aches and fever, again lasted a day then totally fine. Wife had same shot but never developed symptoms.

EDIT: wife just commented the 7 clots were all women and they're starting to think it may be linked to birth control. No source to give though.

2nd Covid test negative. woot
Now it’s up to her underlying health and the miracles of modern antibiotics.
At least she’s been vaccinated so if she catches Covid at the hospital it might not hospitalize her.
,.,,.,,.,
8am Edit
She called and said they are going to keep her another day and pump her full of mega doses of antibiotics ( I think that's the correct medical term )
At least I was able to make her laugh on the phone.
Fingers crossed.

Is it pain or discomfort, more or less than 3 or 4 days?

Thanks
You are aware that you’re only gonna hear from people that almost died.
And you’re only going to get a statistical sample of 0.00 bullshit.
The facts are that 50% of the people that get these vaccines (and the followup second jab) have zero symptoms besides a sore arm and the other 50% range in fever to O’My God I feel like I’m going to die.
Knowing what other people felt is not going to change what’s going to happen to you.

Sorry if I’m sounding a little RANTY but I just had to drive my stepmother to the hospital who has been at home in bed for two days after got a tested negative for FLU and Covid yesterday
The ER x-rayed her lungs and she’s got pneumonia.
She called me and said pick her up in an hour and a half , they’re going to do an antibiotic IV drip.
She called back 30 minutes later and said they’re going to keep her overnight.

When she coughed it sounded wet so I’m hoping that the Covid test was accurate and all she has is pneumonia, but she is no spring chicken and...

I’ll keep y’all posted.

Your mileage will vary

I got the Johnson and Johnson over 30 days ago and I’m not one of the six people that got the rare blood clot.
Then again I am over 48 years old and not a female.

Edit edit
God dammit
With oxygen she’s at 80

My wife got the Moderna. She was wiped out for 24 hours with a 102 fever. Slept all afternoon. The next day it was like nothing ever happened.

I got the Pfizer- day two I felt sleepy and warm - that’s it.

One of my kids got the J&J it wrecked him for 12 hours - chills/sweats/fever/sore arm - then fine like it never happened.

This is actually part of the secret to getting the cube, the center pieces are fixed in relation to one another. so if the side on a scrambled cube has a white center, then thats the white side. directly opposite the white is the yellow side, red is opposite the orange, blue opposite the green.
