I enjoyed the game. I thought the story was really good. sure, its a bit grindy, its also a bit goofy. but that is the point of having norman reedus in the story, to humanize it all.

27M is about 500K sales on the PC, ok only to me.

I've played some of it, had no problems, it just a time thing.
Seemed solid, I hear amazing things about the story that I haven't made it to.
No problem believing this is a very good game, runs like a dream.

you really owe it to yourself to experience it once. Sure there are a couple of times you feel a little worn down by all the transporting items to people, but the game / story/ outside experiences are pretty great for the majority it.
Well worth it.

$27M sounds like a lot, but the game probably cost $150M to make and market.

Everything I've seen from Death Stranding makes me want to avoid it like the plague. I wouldn't play it if it was free. So yeah, $27M earned is nowhere near the game breaking even.

I thought the same thing until I played it. Videos, screenshots, and even watching others play don't do it justice. You have to experience it for yourself. Both gameplay and story are wholly original, but somehow they work well; it shouldn't be like that, but it does. The gameplay element of building things you know will help others is a powerful draw. When you construct your first road segment in an area that doesn't have it, it gives you a sense of pride to know that your small contribution helped make both your gameplay and other's gameplay easier. I also like the focus on non-violent combat; enemies are typically disabled or stunned. It looks like Hideo Kojima, Kenji Yano, and Shuyo Murata wrote the story backward, meaning they started at the ending and fleshed out all the details to the beginning. Everything fits so well together when you conclude. All the fragmented flashbacks that don't make sense while playing, in the end, replay in their entirety, uninterrupted, and in linear order, so the full scope of the Death Stranding becomes easy to understand.

All that said, it was a play-once game for me. Once I know the ending, I had no desire to replay it. But the first experience through was excellent.

Exactly my view on it, an awesome experience, once. Wouldn't have missed it and maybe replay it in 5-10 years when online functions are down and you have to solo-survive, which is SUBSTANTIALLY harder.

The game probably also wasn't a PC exclusive.

Apparently it recouped its costs about 6 months after release (1.5 months before the PC release), securing funding for Kojima's next game.

Apparently these guys sold the rights of Payday 2 in 2016 to Starbreeze for $30 million... and 33% of sales on a future Payday 3 with a maximum of $40 million.

Lucrative shit.

Please don't put Death Stranding in the same category as Payday 2.... (sorry can't stand the payday dev's).

They're just talking about financials aka money numbers. That's what investors care about.
