Out of the Blue

My mention of our Black & White themed logo yesterday prompted reader and frequent link contributor ConsoleGenRL to ask why this does not appear on mobile devices. The answer is pretty simple. The themed logos take up more vertical space than the vanilla logo (up to 160 px vs 142 px). At desktop resolutions, the difference is hardly noticeable. But at mobile resolutions it pushes the content much further down. So in order to make the mobile view as practical as possible, it's always presented with an even smaller 112 px version of the standard Blue's News logo. There's now an entry to cover this in the Blue's News FAQ.

Considering so many people have forgotten January 6th, Republicans, tRump, covid, Texas freezing weather, et al etc... the top ten of these should be mandatory reading every month as a reminder.

That's about average for the country as a whole, too. And right when we're so close to getting this thing licked, Georgia and Texas and the rest of the south are just removing all restrictions so we can make sure the pandemic lasts as long as possible. FFS.

Yeah, and not just extending the epidemic, but also providing breeding vats to produce new variants.

Well, we're headed into a month long lockdown starting tomorrow. Oh fucking joy. Meanwhile you guys down there are all vaccinated, doing a little dance, making a little love, and getting down tonight. There's no end in sight to this shitshow up here.

I have a good friend in the suburbs of Toronto and I'm genuinely worried for him and his spouse. I got my second shot yesterday. Feeling fine so far.

I hope you guys get the vaccine soon.

My comment was based solely on what it said on the Steam page. And no "again" for me -- although I know I did get a small amount of play time on the original Halo on a Mac a very long time ago. I don't really recall it and I never played any of the others -- mainly due the nature of the exclusive deals they were released under.

I've actually passed on the Master Chief collection up until now mainly because I didn't want to deal with an X-Box account (I know, silly/wimpy/whatever *shrug*) but for $20 -- I can't pass it up.

It's not an Xbox account, all of Microsoft's stuff is unified. So if you ever had a Hotmail or Live email, created an account for Windows, etc... That's all you need. You shouldn't even see the login screen after the first time you plug it in, either, at least not for a game through Steam. Make sure you have the Win10 game bar stuff disabled, though, 'cause that will remind you it's there real fast when you start playing a connected game that has 700 achievements.

But yeah, totally worth it just to play through all those Halo campaigns [again]. The spin-off is pretty meh, but everything else is good to great.

In my cynical mind, linking a garbage email account and my OS login to the same password sounds like an AWESOME idea... said no one ever <3

Didn't see it mentioned, so :

* Halo The Master Chief Collection, 50% off on Steam *

Couldn't resist, 6 games for such a good price !
Halo Reach, CE, 2, 3, 3 ODST, 4

Remember you can disable the EAC (Easy Anti Cheat) on Steam options, allowing mods, tables and Fling madness.
Played only Halo 1, and 2 a ton of years ago.

Also of interest, got Edge Of Eternity, 33% off.
*Beautiful* JRPG, Final Fantasy like but more tactical, turn based RPG, anime.
Coming off Early Access on june 8th, but they warn that price will go up then.

Life isn't wonderful everywhere in the US for vaccinations. It is a hit and miss mess. I could drive three hours south where they can't find enough people for the doses they have, but there in my county only essential workers have been getting them. CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart down south have open bookings just about everywhere. But those same businesses have no appointments within 50 miles of my home. So, some might be dancing -- but it certainly isn't everyone.
