An acclaimed phenomenon, Diablo® II enchanted scores of gamers with addictive hack-and-slash gameplay and an immersive world. Now more than 20 years later the timeless classic is resurrected.
Our journey back to this iconic experience is about to begin. We are pleased to announce the Diablo II: Resurrected Single-player Technical Alpha, the first of multiple tests. As diehard fans, we understand that many of you are itching to return to a game so fondly remembered. Still, we are also thrilled to welcome new players to experience this iconic classic, and we look forward to the feedback you all may share. We want to know if we’re upholding the authenticity of design with our new visuals and quality of life changes.
About two months ago, the legacy of the Dark Wanderer was renewed in all of us when Diablo II: Resurrected was announced at BlizzConline. One of the most popular PC games of all time (and its expansion, Lord of Destruction®) is making a modern resurgence into our lives. We can’t wait for you to see the fearsome demons, brave adventurers, and the world of Sanctuary completely remastered in up to (if compatible platform and equipment is present) Ultra High Definition 4K (2160p) graphics on PC and consoles; while also having the ability to look through the lens of nostalgia by a press of a button.

I guess I was one of the weirdos that liked all 3 Diablos so far.
I thought it was great. Felt very Diablo to me, but with better QOL improvements.

I loved Diablo 2, but I probably have almost 1000 hours in the game, vanilla, LoD, and mods. I can't bring myself to spend $40 or whatever to replay literally that same game with updated graphics. I seriously hope you guys that end up getting it enjoy it though, I'm just burned out.

Yawn. Graphical overlay for literally Diablo 2 LoD from 15 years ago.
Please bring on Diablo 4!
I bet you think the same thing about Mass Effect: Legendary Edition uh? You should watch a few videos of the changes they made, it's not "just" a graphical overhaul. I can't wait to get back into it and pvp some more.
Prez wrote on Apr 7, 2021, 02:01:I'm with ya. Diablo 3 is pretty good these days, the latest changes this new season have been welcome. Granted it's essentially power creep, with a little bit of QoL, dressed up as a new feature/update to followers, however the game is going on 9 years old and I'm fine with it. As usual, it's great to play with friends / clan members.
I guess I was one of the weirdos that liked all 3 Diablos so far.

I hated that goddamned jungle in D2. D4 isn't going to be here anytime soon according to Bleezard.

So did I, initially. Then after I finished the game on all the difficulty levels (well TBH even before that) and the "honeymoon" phase wore off it slowly dawned on me how bad the actual game was compared to it's predecessor in almost every single way.
There is a caveat here, I was a hardcore Diablo2 player. Really spent a huge amount of time on battle.net (those were the modem dial-up days) doing all the runs, building PvP characters, Uber Diablo runs, the whole shebang. A game really needs to be special to hold your attention for that long, and it's not like there were other great games that competed for my time in those days. If I were a more casual player, I would have enjoyed D3 a lot more and that's fine I guess. This is the direction that Blizzard wanted to go, but ultimately it was a disappointment for the really hardcore D2 fans among us. We were really vocal about it at that time too, hence the "Fuck those losers" Jay Wilson response and the ensuing memes.
