Actually, if you accelerate at 1G, you'd reach lightspeed at 1 year. AC is 4.3 light years away. I doubt we'll ever reach lightspeed due to the physical constraints, but I imagine hitting 0.1C (10% of light speed) is probably doable at some point. At that speed, you'd take 43 years to reach AC. That might be the basis for this game, as freezing adult humans might not be possible. So you live your life for four decades on a colony ship, but by the time you reach your destination, everyone is dead from all the gunfights.
