I'll admit I was cautiously concerned about the AZ version of the vaccine. But then today on NPR they compared the risks to some other medical risks, like those associated with taking aspirin or birth control pills. The risk is so low on the AZ vaccine, if it is causing you to not take it -- you should probably not be taking any medications, ever.

The CDC has issued its highest travel alert level for Canada.
Travel to Canada from the United States is being discouraged by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, saying that even those who are fully vaccinated could be infected and spread COVID-19 variants.

Brazil has become South America’s superspreader eventFor weeks, César Salomé, a physician in Lima’s Hospital Mongrut, had followed the chilling reports. A new coronavirus variant, spawned in the Amazon rainforest, had stormed Brazil and driven its health system to the brink of collapse. Now his patients, too, were arriving far sicker, their lungs saturated with disease, and they were dying within days. Even the young and healthy didn’t appear protected.
The new variant, he realized, was here.
“We used to have more time,” Salomé said. “Now, we have patients who come in and in a few days they’ve lost the use of their lungs.”
The P.1 variant, which packs a suite of mutations that make it more transmissible and potentially more dangerous, is no longer just Brazil’s problem. It’s South America’s problem — and the world’s.

So kind as always jdreyer !
From Argentina.
Better, for now, but our Peronist government is the zenith of inefficiency, and they aren't getting vaccines.
Their focus since assuming a year ago is dismantling the judicial power so the vicepresident Cristina Kirchner -the real power, president 2 times before- can avoid prison for scandalous corruption.
I've been in bunker mode for a year, fine by me, except for the *boring* prepper food that will last some 6 months more![]()
The regulator has consistently said the benefits outweigh the risks as it investigates 44 reports of an extremely rare brain clotting ailment known as cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) out of 9.2 million people in the European Economic Area who have received the AstraZeneca vaccine.
A causal link with the vaccine is not proven, but is possible and further analysis is continuing...
many scientists say there is no definitive evidence and it is not clear whether or why AstraZeneca’s vaccine would cause an issue not shared by other vaccines that target a similar part of the coronavirus
“In my opinionwe can now say it, it is clear that there is an association with the vaccine. However, we still do not know what causes this reaction,”
He did not provide evidence to support his comments.

I'd take it. The clot risk is like 1 in 100000. Your COVID hospitalization rate is like 1 in 10.
