Epic Games Store Adding Social Features

Epic Games announces plans for new social features to be added to the Epic Games Store. These include a new party system and player cards. The post also outlines other enhancements, including improved search, a minimized view, and a do not disturb feature. Here's the party line:
Party System Intro
In the future, the Epic Games Launcher will feature a new party system that enables players to group together and communicate via voice, text, and more. You’ll drop in or drop out at any point of a party experience with shared controls among all teammates. Talk to your friends and teammates whether you are playing a game or hanging out while searching for a new game to play together.

Party Window
The Party System coming soon will feature an “Active Party Window”, a dedicated window for the Party you are actively engaging in. In this window you’ll have a host of options with your friends and teammates to communicate and play. Share your latest highlights to convince your friends to play a game with you or kick off a match with only a few friends in the group while being able to continue talking to your entire Party.

Drop In / Drop Out Parties
There will be no single owner of the party, so if a friend needs to head offline, the remainder of the Party will continue on. Inside the window, each party member will have control of their own audio and video options. You can also invite other players and lock the party.

Continue the Party In-Game
The addition of the Party Window will also feature In-Game Party Representation. A simplified view of the party will be toggleable while in-game, showing party members and their status.

I didn't call him said bad word though. I said he was acting like said bad word. Just pointing that out as a referral point for if ever comes the time again that I plunge into an identity politics debate again with my dear friends on here, and said dear friends as per usual say "you sound like a racist", I can point to this here comment and the hypocricy that those buddies are free to call me that label in any way shape or form and have never been censored for it and probably never will ;D

Saying someone is acting like such a word is the same as an "attack of a personal nature."

I agree. But since I have been on the receiving end of such attacks in all discussions regarding identity politics, and not even being "like an asshole" but way worse than that... I thought this was was tolerated as well. I was always mighty allergic to hypocrisy so I had to put my earlier comment out there, Kxmode.

The only winning move is not to play.

How is Epic's idea different from Remote Play?
There is no common point between the two. With Remote Play, it's like everyone is playing on the same computer. The PC owner can't even use his mouse as he likes.

Everybody is a host via distributed computing. Seems like a good idea.

But no, it’s way more important that people can party up. That’ll remove the sting of losing 100 hours of progress in a game.

They have implemented cloud saving to avoid that ( might not work in all games..) also , most games have save files somewhere on your hard drive you should be able to move to the new directory , try googling "[game name] save files" to find them..

It’d be nice if they focused on stuff like, I dunno, the ability for EGS to realize maybe it’s been reinstalled and that it could be pointed at a folder to see games it already had before.

Exactly. It seems that Epic is at least trying to improve the core experience, rather than just emulating other platforms.

As someone who uses platforms for more than just shopping malls, I'm glad they FINALLY remembered that competing with Steam involves a lot more than exclusives.
