A few more things to keep in mind.
1) Our military spending is only 15% of the entire Federal budget
. Current military spending is only 3.5% of GDP, half of what it was during the Cold War. At a time when China's stated goal is to replace the US as the world superpower, I don't think we want to accede that place to a regime that systematically represses its own people, consistently ignores its international obligations
, illegally harvests the organs of political prisoners
, and engages in the genocide of its own people
. The US isn't perfect, but we're fairly transparently imperfect and strive to improve ourselves and the world as a whole. The CCP wants to improve things for a subset of Chinese people, and for nobody else.
2) If we want more money for healthcare, infrastructure, education, etc. let's undo the Trump tax cut, and bring back the higher income brackets we had before the Reagan "tax reform." And double the IRS so they can bring in the 100s of billions that go unpaid by white collar tax cheats.
'I am' is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that 'I do' is the longest sentence? - GC
