Out of the Blue

Fridays have become very stressful lately, as it becomes increasingly difficult to dodge spoilers for WandaVision. MrsBlue and I watch on Friday night, but so many sites obsess on it that scrolling through a news feed involves tons of articles on the latest developments by Friday morning. The good news is this will only be a problem for one more week before the series finale. Of course it's also the bad news that there's only a single episode remaining, since it's been an enjoyable and intriguing ride.

Spoiler-free Round-up
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.

Really Blue? I'm only up to episode 4 and haven't seen much (most sights have a picture of the series and I go past it)

It's his job to peruse news feeds though, so he probably sees a lot more headlines that you do.

It is kind of odd how they launch a new episode in the middle of the night. Maybe to prevent the servers from being overwhelmed, if say they launched it at 7PM EST on Fridays?

Why only EP4? Watch faster! Apart from the snowflake crap it's an otherwise creative and interesting series. Bettany is just a superb actor, and Olson is much better than I thought she'd be. Most original series I've seen in ages.

That was kinda bizarre how the motorcyclist went over the side there. Didn't look like he was going to fast. Looked more like a very inexperienced rider.

I understand what you mean Blue, they practically put spoilers in the titles and headers.
I’ve got two episodes left and it has been a fun ride.

Is that show actually good or, like everything else everyone "says" is good lately, bad? I'm thinking of Picard and Mandalorian, especially.

Yes, it actually is. It really is something fresh and new creatively speaking. People say Picard and the Mando are good? Must be all those people that think network TV is good.

I'm at least a year behind in watching shows once they've aired. And now that Disney is being stingy and holding off on dvd/bluray releases, I probably wont see any of this stuff for years.
Latest thing I saw was s5 of Better call Saul. Great show. We know from Breaking Bad where a lot of these characters end up, but their transitions so far has been entertaining to watch.

Because 2 reasons 1)had to give up internet until i got my taxes back (yay!) 2) After playing catch up on all bills since December (Kentucky Unemployment is just a F'ing mess), Disney+ is not on the budget (Batz was kind enough to lend me his subscription to watch the first 4 episodes.) but something went crazy with the fire stick and it cleared out the login info and just haven't asked for it again.

I borrowed my son's account to watch The Mandalorian and while it's only average at best, it's still far better than Picard. If the best Disney can offer is average at best (and I'm hearing rumors that they will tie it into the latest trainwreck of a trilogy, so no thank you...), I'm not going to touch that channel. Especially since I'm way past being over the latest superhero craze. Star Wars is abysmal and I'm completely tired of superheroes - now there's a sentence I'd never thought I'd write. I'm so old...

Compared to other disney star wars, mandalorian was OK, certainly watchable.

Picard was better than JJ Abrams star trek but on par with enterprise. Just about watchable but not something id be waiting to watch each week.

I nearly gave up on wandavision but it gets better.

Picard was good for fan service but not much more. I watched all of it and the writing was underwhelming at best.

Mandalorian was good for fan service and quite a bit more. Honestly, as Disney's first live action Star Wars show, I was pretty impressed. Particularly considering they didn't lean on the "Force" for any of it. I am a fan of the writing and the directors they used as well.

WandaVision is surprising. If you haven't watched any of it yet and you think you might, I would advise preparing time to binge it in like 2 or 3 blocks. The episodes are on the shorter side and they spend a great deal of time laying out all the cards before they start revealing their hand. People who say they are bored early on, I completely understand. Marvel took a risk here in my opinion and did something unique, and I appreciate that, but damn does it test your patience at times.

Picard was the usual Jar Jar Abrams garbage, completely disconnected after E04 and now pretending it doesn't exist, same as the STD infection.

Mando was pretty good. Looking forward to next season.

WaVi is just a facepalm for me, couldn't get beyond episode 2. I really have no idea what people find interesting.

Want a blast from the past? Babylon 5 recently got the official 1080p treatment, look it up, I've been rewatching it, it's a pretty good remaster overall.

Cheers!

WandaVision has the potential to be the best thing they have ever done with the Marvel licenses/IP. You can only have so many costumed dudes punching other in the middle of the street, I'm glad they took the slight risk of making a show based on some of the better written comics that are slightly out of the mainstream.

That said, I can easily see people expecting super heroes doing super hero stuff, and getting bored. I just hope it does well, and the Falcon/Winter Soldier show is also less... straight comic-movie? But the latter will probably be a straight-up action show.

No idea, all I know is that I'm watching it in 1080p, it looks 1080p ( not perfect, but good enough ) and it's from an official source, not fanmade.

I agree with most here, Picard was ok for passing quarantine time.

WandaVision on the other hand is a bird of a different tint.
The first 3 or 4 episodes has you going "Huh?" as it slow simmers. Continue watching and you'll be pleasantly surprised as the simmering water becomes a rolling boil.

WandaVision is an eight-episode Twilight Zone episode with a dash of X-Files and SuperHero genres tossed in for good measure. If that doesn't make sense, it will, after you watch.
