Out of the Blue

It's was pretty warm here yesterday, and it's going to be in the mid-40s for the next several days. The snow has melted off my grill cover, so I'm thinking of sneaking in opening day for Manstovia, but it will probably have to be today or tomorrow, as it's supposed to be rainy all weekend. I'm not laboring under the delusion that spring is actually here, but it will be nice to have a preview of the season after what's been a pretty stormy winter.

Warmed-up Round-up

Yeah, it's feeling a bit early Spring'ish around here for the moment. Point in fact, one of my chipmunks from the front of the house showed up yesterday. I was all, 'What are you doing out of bed, you little bum? Get back to bed for a few more weeks.' So I put out her feeding station today and she's been coming and getting fresh food and nuts. I think early Spring is definitely coming but we're not out of the woods quite yet. March always seems to have at least one short cold snap before it's gone.

Why aren't dogs that expensive chipped? Cops really need to find those fuckers. Attemped murder for a couple of dogs. Those scum need to be locked up until the day they die.

IDK the dogs could be chipped, but that shit isn't a Lo-Jack or GPS.

The chips typically placed in animals are simple RFID thingies that vets can scan for when they are brought in. They don't transmit to a satellite or whatever. Maybe something like that exists, but I don't think it's common.

New World Map Tries to Fix Distorted Views of Earth

I just had the weirdest idea. Like you know how maps are distorted because it's projecting a mostly spherical surface onto a flat surface? Hear me out here... what if we were to do something crazy like use Advanced Video Games Technology to make a "virtual sphere" of sorts that you could manipulate and view on your computer screen?!?!

Nice, I saw some girl at the UT campus do exactly that on her bike. It was almost like the scene from Waynes world except not as funny.

On a side note, as a Texan I have never been so happy to see the warmer weather come in...talk about a perfect example of why its never a good idea to cut corners on weather proofing.

So 3rd plane from Boeing with engine issues having to do emergency landings

Me thinks Boeing is gonna have another big problem

That's 3 incidents in less than 7 days
1 US 777 (RUD)
1 NL 747 (RUD)
1 RU 777 (sensor)

Not sure how you come to that conclusion.
And if they do have issues it's not going to be due to a totally unrelated incident such as what happened over Russia with a15-year-old 777-300ER running General Electric engines.

"Aviation records over the last 24 months show nearly two dozen reports of U.S.-based commercial planes aborting flights because of an engine failure or because the crew shut down an engine due to mechanical problems. "
"The overall system is designed with the knowledge that man-made components are going to fail occasionally,"source

Those chips are only detectable within a few cm, so unless the thieves take the dogs to the vet, you won't be able to use the chips to find them.
