And what would the point of that be, Joe? We already know why there's a shortage. Rather, people would like to know what you'd actually do about it. Maybe like open some fab plants at home? The pandemic has illustrated more clearly than anything else the critical need to manufacture stuff in your own country. Canada, more than anyone else, desperately needs to learn that lesson. Fuck free trade.

Pervs order large number of pervy mousepads? Shocker. Wry

Why the fuck would I make stuff in the US? I can make millions on the dollar for some cheap asian labor, and install nets around the building to catch the suicidal workers.
OR
I could be like Elon Musk and move my business out of California (like many have done) because of the operating cost and state regulations.

So what exactly would the President do? Companies are in the business of making money right? From a buisness standpoint why would it make sense to open plants in the US?

At some point the lack of domestic manufacturing capacity becomes a defense issue. 99% of consumer goods coming from foreign lands, and 99% of components for domestic goods coming from foreign lands, if someone wants to cut us off, we got an existential crisis on our hands.

Not to mention the massive environmental costs from shipping all that crap from the other side of the planet. Prior to "free" trade and the life cycle of products from start to finish was all handled domestically life was never better for the middle-class. The moment "free" trade started is when we started the race to the bottom for employment and the environment. I don't know about anyone else but I'm sick and tired of the elites telling me what's in my best interests - which always and only means their best interests.

It'd be nice if the EPA came down on these fuckers buying video cards to mine Etherium and other cryptocoins, and maybe the FTC on fucking scalpers in general.

Quite unlikely though.

I would like to be able to actually buy a video card by 2022.

Well, that mousepad is a life-sized portrait of an anime chick from the boobs up and costs nearly $500... Apparently they use a special material for the ample cleavage and are scrambling to find enough of it to fulfill all of their orders, lol.
Wouldn't it make more sense to spend $500 buying a ton of good professional porn? Huh
