I agree with all of this. Really love the art and feel of this game.
Some of the most real feeling forests I've been in, with the mossy logs, tree variety, even the trees growing at extreme leans!
I love the little moguls and big old dead stumps, the valleys, the rivers. It's very nice and looks right.

I think one of the biggest draws to the game is something most people don't really even notice, the more realistic building experience. You actually have to be aware of strains on building materials, even in inclement weather. You can build pretty much anything, but you have to be cognizant of integrity of the material you use and maximize the space without totally sapping your available resources.

I mean, most of my circle of friends I play this with are all pretty much focusing on building ala Minecraft/Sims style. Building some of the most lavish structures I've seen while trying to keep things from getting higher than yellow on stress. I even have one who is currently on a treehouse kick.

This game looks great and priced surprisingly low, trying to convince my crew to get it then I'll grab it. Hopefully by the time that happens a couple updates will be out.

Ehhh, if their publisher, Coffee Stain, has any rub-off effect, they’ll add a surprising amount of content before calling it done.

As for having to get it because your friends did, what’s where I’m at. I’m the last one in, and it’s OK. It’s not amazing. The artwork is meh and a lot of the animations are just plain awful. The gameplay is fun enough, and is very much geared toward playing co-op.

It’s never incredible, but it’s good fun with friends.

There are so manygames and so many have deep options, I think many aren't punishing. I'm going to get this, but more patches, busy now with other things. But the general the basic building/survival part seems normal standards. I think the combat/enemy encounters make it special in its own way, perhaps it's staple.

Good to hear, thanks for the replies. Right now I'm trying to polish off RDR2 and Cy2077 and then I think I'll give Ubi+ a rent for a month after that to play Valhalla, then I may get down on this.

One thing I have to credit the AAA titles for is all the little things that bring the games to life. A week or so back when I was trudging through the swamp in RDR2 maybe 50 feet away from me a boar is drinking from the water then a gator explodes out of the water and grabs him, starts wrestling him into the water with the poor little piggy squealing away. Scared the sheisse out of me. And yes, the gator did manage to drag him under.

The other night in Cy I was out in the Badlands when these two goons from Miltech has this woman stopped on the side of the road for whatever reason. She yells 'Fuck you!' and starts to run away and the one goon yells 'You fuckin' gonk!', aims his rifle and drops her. I must have been laughing at that for a good hour. Whoever delivered that line, it was perfect. Love the little things like that.
