I setup my own Quake resource site, the Quake Coop, eventually (still up because the last time I tried to take it down, people wrote to tell me that a lot of retro gamers still used it for reference, and it was one of the few places you could download CTF patches and watervis files: https://www.soldcentralfl.com/quakecoop/

I stayed active on PCAbusers after that, as a moderator, then took control of it when Blade (Mike) passed away in 2008. It's still running, but we're now down to just a small number of the original members, and a few new ones, that stay active. I shut down the news section and the advertising, and we just use the forums. We did lose control of the domain, despite my best efforts (no one could find the registrar credentials), so it's at PCAbusers.org now.

I think it makes weaker the original, so won't recommend seeing it.

Not in the same genre, but another cerebral film I like to watch every so often is "The Fountainhead" -- 1949 with Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal. Yes, it is a film adaptation of the Ayn Rand novel, the scene play written by her. I am transfixed every time I watch Howard Roark's speech in the court room scene. I've been tempted to memorize it, settled for transcribing it myself. If I ever get around to having a personal webpage (something I've considered since the late 90s) it would definitely make an appearance.

As far as Tenet is concerned, I was intrigued and hopeful. In concept it was an interesting new take on time 'travel' but I think the execution was flawed, and I do believe there were mistakes. I've watched several Youtube videos explaining the timeline in detail, and that helps and I'd recommend it, but there are still inconsistencies. We should probably do a spoiler thread on this.

"Promising Young Woman" was good, almost ripped from the headlines where nothing happens to the rapey college jock.

The Man From Earth is excellent, definitely one of my favorites. I bought a DVD of it. However, I would warn anyone it is a cerebral film. It takes place almost completely in a single room and is basically a conversation between friends/colleagues. Yeah, I plan on watching "Promising Young Woman" at some point.

Edit: If you enjoyed ST:TOS episode "Requiem for Methuselah", The Man From Earth should be in your wheelhouse. Both were written by Jerome Bixby.

Hadn't heard of it. After watching the trailer it looks like it might be worth a look...

And if anyone was expecting anything good out of "Greenland" their movie quality radar need serious adjustment.

Well, I'm in the same boat, basically... I played enough D2 and D2+mods back in the day, for several lifetimes. I most likely won't get the Resurrected version anytime soon, if at all, but I'm sure they will get about $300 million worth of nostalgia sales, at minimum.

*EDIT* Rofl, that video, about a third of the way through, one of the characters has his inventory like 50% full of charms and a teleport book. Ugh, so many bad design choices people gloss over in their minds from that game.

Well I'm digging it. I'm gonna jump in and play since to my eyes it looks like an upgraded version of Diablo2. Unless they majorly fuck up the gameplay elements that made it great, we haven't seen much of itemization, and high level items, high level mobs, resistances etc. etc.
Assuming they keep the elements from patch 1.10 and beyond, it's going to be exactly the same experience with better graphics. So yeah, it's fair to say that I'm gonna enjoy it.
