Valve Loses Controller Patent Lawsuit

Law.com has the results of the patent infringement lawsuit over the Steam Controller mentioned last week (thanks VGC). Word is the jury ruled in favor of the plaintiff, and Valve is on the hook to pay them $4 million:
The number is on the low end of the damages range sought by Ironburg Inventions, but jurors also found Valve Corp.'s infringement was willful, raising the possibility of enhancements. Valve had argued there was no infringement.

The intellectual property holding company for video came controller maker SCUF Gaming has won a $4 million verdict in the nation’s first all-virtual patent infringement jury trial.

Ah, so the legal system now operates on hearsay... that's awesome for patent trolls. And before you claim this is a valid court decision, remind me how exactly a digital jury in a court proceeding run over ZOOM of all things examined the controllers in question physically.... oh yeah, they didn't and couldn't. They looked at pretty pictures online and made a legal decision over it. This is adults playing make-belief court.
