Often I look at these headlines and am amazed what a spoiled, jaded piece of shit industry this has become. If I had a big red button that could destroy the entire review world, I'd kinda wanna press it. Luckily there's still guys like Skill Up, who don't make sounding like a smartass little twat their prime agenda.

I dunno. I feel like games / the developers could be treated with way more respect and I feel like in a different age, they were. Fucking done with this new-age, cruel smearing. /rant

Well since the game is an unoptimized mess it seems to deserve the critical reviews. It is just another developer rushing out a title without taking the time to optimize it at all. In this case, I don't think the developers deserve any respect.

I give it 5/10. A nice mediocre, medium grade. Ha!

To reach the unsatisfying conclusion, you’ll have to play through a lot of empty areas and backtracking-based puzzles. Do you like searching for keys and levers over and over? I hope so, because that’s a lot of what you do in this game. Another issue is that The Medium’s main creature is scary, but is also the only real threat in the entire game. That lack of a threat, combined with the simplistic puzzle design, makes too much of the game a bore. There are no random zombies or ghostly demons to fight. There’s essentially no-combat at all, outside of some areas that have you burning ghost moths with spirit energy. This means a lot of time is spent running around larger-than-necessary levels, with no threat of death or failure, trying to desperately find the one small item needed to press forward.

Oh yeah, definitely GOTY material.

Funny, that review reads to me like "WAAAAAHHH!!! This game isn't the genre I wanted it to be!"

1) the "graphics" look pretty fucking neat, ie. the main gimmick rendering 2x worlds at once is quite novel. It's not Mario Kart split-screen because it's not referencing 2x the same world.

2) Didn't people go ga-ga for that firewatcher game a couple years back? Wasn't that mostly just walking with no threats? I mean maybe it's not a particularly well-done walking simulator, but on the surface it easily has my interest piqued.

3) The smarmy cunt tone can get fucked in general, so if all these reviews are pushing that shit, fuck em. Random complaint: Playing SWBF2 there's just soooo many people screaming at me (ever since EGS made it free) that when I do good I'm just "really sweaty" and "super cringe tryhard with no life who never goes outside, and who's never touched a woman". I mean it was cute for a bit at first, but there's fucking legions of these smarmy cunts. Why has this defense mechanism gained so much traction? How is me doing good just me being "sweaty". Imagine using that insult in any other competitive environment. Losing, badly, then trying to walk it off criticizing the victor for being "one of those people" who actually "try" when they compete. It's so dumb. I hate the fucking world sometimes. The kids are not alright. /rant
