So CP2077 first 3 weeks as #1 on Steam, 4th week #3 and 5th week #5. Hundreds of millions in profits and depending on the source 10 to 14 million units sold. But according to some talking heads it's a "failure" and "disaster". alrighty then... Wish all my projects were a "disaster" by their standards.

Umm, sales doesn't equal quality.

Just because a lot of gamers are dumb enough to buy a product sight unseen, doesn't mean it's a good product. Of course, you probably don't care about whether something's actually good or not. As long as it sells. Just like the televangelists thought. And they did pretty good too.

What? Doesn't that make it fine cuisine?

I can't believe you decided to go the McDonald's route for quality comparison. Cyberpunk doesn't give people stomach problems when they play it.

I 'knew' that'd be read differently than as how it was in my head. Thought the /sarcasm was inherent in the sheer stupidity of the idea that quantity of opinions indicated the quality of those opinions. Sorry, my engrish went stream of conscious on that one, made sense in my head. I'm down with the team that thinks lots of folks with a shared opinion can get it wrong, biggly.

Well, BluesNews threads tend to be equal parts serious and sarcastic, so I tend to lean on the side of serious when no /s, smiley, or emoji is present. Anyhow, good humor.

It doesn't mean it isn't either, but it is more likely to be at least good than bad if that many people bought it and are STILL buying it. The game certainly had issues, especially on consoles, but people I know on PC really like the game.

I played the game before the fix for that, 5 minutes after the game unlocked on launch day. There was a DEDICATED UNSKIPPABLE WARNING SCREEN during the launch process, same as every other game I played with a warning for this and it's shown at every launch.

I MAKE SURE to look for this, especially with someone in the house here who is somewhat sensitive to this. I even remember warning her when I saw it as I launched the game the first time around and her replying to make sure to note when it happens if she ever wanted to play the game later.

I don't know where that "buried EULA" myth started as it's not the first time I "heard" it, but it's pure BS.

Anyways nowadays I'm more concerned about their snails pace fixing game breaking bugs ( and even creating new ones ). They still have fixed only ONE out of the NINE game breaking bugs I reported to them after 2 months... Certainly taking their sweet time with em. Probably more focused on conslows playability.

A person who has imagery-induced epilepsy knows which games to avoid. The warning is merely a formality and legal protection.

True, it gave them seizures instead.

For those not in the know: Cyberpunk 2077 included (they've since modified it in a patch) a light sequence very similar to what's used in a clinical setting to induce an epileptic episode. They helpfully included an epilepsy warning... buried in the EULA.

I'm waiting for the mod that restores that effect, tbh. Their hasty replacement is horrible.

I really enjoyed rust (for a while at least), but the offline raiding and HORRIBLE community killed it for me. Not to mention the lack of working anticheat and server admins that were worse than actual cheaters.

Good to see it doing well though.

If i was a teenager again i'd probably likely be playing it and nothing else.

Well, I think that depends on how many bugs you run into.

Not surprising. Everything Dyson touches turns to gold.

Popular twitch streamers started up some Rust servers recently, including roleplaying ones.

Also, if you like building games like factorio and statisfactory, take a look at Dyson Sphere.
