Activision Blizzard has made Vicarious Visions part of Blizzard Entertainment,
reports
GamesIndustry.biz. Activision acquired the studio
back in 2005, three years before
their merger with Blizzard. Up
until now Vicarious Visions had remained a separate studio, developing a variety
of projects, most recently the reissue of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2.
Now they will have to live vicariously through Blizzard being "fully dedicated to
existing Blizzard games and initiatives." They also report:
As part of the move, Vicarious Visions studio head Jen Oneal has been promoted to Blizzard executive vice president of development, where she joins the company's leadership team and will report directly to Blizzard president J. Allen Brack.
Oneal is being replaced in the Vicarious Visions studio head role by Simon Ebejer, who previously served as chief operating officer for the studio.
Seems the word going around at the moment is that they will be working on the long-rumored Diablo 2 remake.
