Out of the Blue

We're very much looking forward to watching the third episode of WandaVision this evening. Them starting off with two episodes last week did a lot to give the show some momentum. This makes me sort of wish they would release two episodes per week, particularly because they're only 30 minutes each. On the other hand, the series is only nine installments, so it would all be over that much more quickly, so maybe it's for the best. I do think it was wise not to release it all at once, à la Netflix, as we'd be done with it already, the anticipation of learning what's going on is fun.

Obituary: MLB: Hank Aaron dies at age of 86.

Of course there's no such thing as a real curse. But it is a strange coincidence that the actors on this show keep dying off at 65 or younger. Here are the ages at death of the cast of I Love Lucy, despite living in a less medically competent era and being mostly smokers:
Lucy: 77
Dezi: 69
Vivian (Ethel): 70
Bill (Fred): 79
Keith (Jr.): 70 and not dead

Life isn't the ultimate curse. It's something else that I won't go into here because it is not an appropriate forum. But I will say you can find what it is by looking up Romans 5:12 and 1 Corinthians 15:26.

Hmm, the news story I read didn't list a cause of death. Where did you see he died of COVID?
He was in the ICU earlier this month for Covid and supposedly never left the hospital. If I was a betting man...

She was 65. Not much of a curse to die at 65. A bit under the first world average, but I'd guess that's within a standard deviation. I agree on the quality of her acting in the role, simply magnificent.

The average life expectancy in the US for women in the top 5% income bracket, which as a successful actress I'm sure she was, is 90. She died 25 years below that. That's pretty early IMO.

Well, the "curse" is the fact that like two-thirds of the main cast are dead, all of them before the age of 70, several in their 40s and 50s. Going before your 70th isn't a big shocker, but compare it to other television casts around the same era and it's night and day. The most direct comparison would probably be DS9, given it ran parallel to Babylon 5, and had an even larger ensemble cast. Of the 10 characters with the most episode credits on B5, 6 actors are dead, none older than 65. For DS9, that number is 1. You can even expand it to the top 20 most credited characters and the number is still only 3, and two of those died in their late 70s.

This^^

I'm really looking forward to WandaVision, but I hate the weekly release model, so I'm waiting for it to be finished so I can binge it. It's hard though, there's constantly spoilers everywhere. It's the same for any new show these days, I feel like I'm always tip-toeing through a mine field.

I would recommend watching. It's actually better to watch it as new episodes debut so that you can stay in the loop and experience things for the first time free of spoilers.

As for the Chiefs/Bills game, my brain says Chiefs and my gut says Bills. I am gonna side with the Bills just because it seems wrong to cheer for a Chiefs victory as a Raider fan. Bills 38 Chiefs 28

Never bet against Brady... Unless he's playing the Giants.

Heh, never a word more truly spoken.

We here at Barad-Dur will be watching the Blood Bowl Superbowl this weekend. Or watching Southampton vs. Arsenal in the FA Cup. Kind of the same thing although Southampton may have a couple less Cave Trolls on their team. They have been pretty impressive this year.

The NBC Sports Network is shutting down at the end of the year. Apparently "some" of the content will be moved to NBC's streaming platform. So, I wonder if 2021 will be the last time we see daily multi-hour coverage of the TdF in the US? Hope not.
