They actually say 80-100 feet, and I believe it, but it doesn't help that the video is really horrible quality. You can barely even see the guy until almost halfway through it... by then the wave has moved pretty far and is rapidly shrinking. So just rewind back to the first few seconds and realize that the faint white line is the wake from his board, at which point he's smaller than the letters 'TMZ' are in the watermark. Also keep in mind that the wave doesn't stop where the foreground water line is, there's a dip ahead of it which can't be seen by someone floating near the shore.
