Quest 2 update: 'It's a fabulous script.' I dunno. As discussed here in the
past, I love the original movie, and I am by no means alone. But there was a
certain magic to it that will be a challenge to recapture in a sequel. And since
the late, great Alan Rickman won't be involved, it will be that much harder. I
know we should never give up, never surrender, but by grabthar's hammer they
have their work cut out for them.

Agreed Blue. Some things should be left alone. We don't need a Casablanca remake, and we don't need a sequel to Galaxy Quest (I would even argue that we didn't need the 4th through 9th Star Wars movies either, although I'm good with Rogue One and the Mandalorian).
They captured magic in a bottle. They should leave it alone.
And on a similar note, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is apparently going to happen. Release set for June 2021. At least it ignores the reboot. This is a direct sequel for Ghostbusters 2. But I'm not holding my breath that it's anything more than a money grab.

Please stop the crying and wailing. The script will be fine. The first movie is a classic and it is amazing that it took this long for the sequel.

A Galaxy Quest sequel? Even if they manage to create a good script, no Rickman is a huge hurdle to overcome. His character's barely concealed disgust at having to play the role was hilarious as was his commitment to it when things turned bad.
Don't want to explicitly mention scenes in case someone hasn't watched it yet.
The film skilfully poked fun at fan's nerdyness and Sci-Fi's wonder.
Oh, and it is funny as hell.
