Out of the Blue

Tim Allen gives Galaxy Quest 2 update: 'It's a fabulous script.' I dunno. As discussed here in the past, I love the original movie, and I am by no means alone. But there was a certain magic to it that will be a challenge to recapture in a sequel. And since the late, great Alan Rickman won't be involved, it will be that much harder. I know we should never give up, never surrender, but by grabthar's hammer they have their work cut out for them.

I don't like historical documentaries. Wink Or would it be more of a horror flick.Who knew that Idiocracy would happen so fast and come in the form of an orange spray tan. sad

People forget, in Idiocracy, the president actually looked for and hired the smartest man they could find, in an attempt to help the country. 2016-2020 reality was much worse, Trump is a literal sociopath; humanity just wasn't as stupid (overall) as Idiocracy's future.

Rex Tillerson, former CEO of Exxon Mobile on DJT:

Tillerson, who was ousted in March 2018, told the magazine, "I used to go into meetings with a list of four to five things I needed to talk to him about, and I quickly learned that if I got to three, it was a home run, and I realized getting two that were meaningful was probably the best objective."

He added that he "started taking charts and pictures with (him) because I found that those seemed to hold his attention better."

Agreed Blue. Some things should be left alone. We don't need a Casablanca remake, and we don't need a sequel to Galaxy Quest (I would even argue that we didn't need the 4th through 9th Star Wars movies either, although I'm good with Rogue One and the Mandalorian).

They captured magic in a bottle. They should leave it alone.

And on a similar note, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is apparently going to happen. Release set for June 2021. At least it ignores the reboot. This is a direct sequel for Ghostbusters 2. But I'm not holding my breath that it's anything more than a money grab.

Please stop the crying and wailing. The script will be fine. The first movie is a classic and it is amazing that it took this long for the sequel.

I will try to keep positive about GQ2, but with no Rickman and a loss of respect for Allen, it would be an uphill battle.

Almost none of these "let's make a new movie with the old cast" films or TV shows is good. Just make something new already.

Well what's 300 million down the drain, right, NASA? Rolleyes

60 grand for a $20 note with a sticker on it? And 80 grand for a night at a resort? Way past time to make the rich pay their share.

A Galaxy Quest sequel? Even if they manage to create a good script, no Rickman is a huge hurdle to overcome. His character's barely concealed disgust at having to play the role was hilarious as was his commitment to it when things turned bad.
Don't want to explicitly mention scenes in case someone hasn't watched it yet.
The film skilfully poked fun at fan's nerdyness and Sci-Fi's wonder.
Oh, and it is funny as hell.
If you haven't seen it, Go...Watch it Now.
