Out of the Blue

My firm stand in my chili standoff with MrsBlue ended up paying off nicely. We finished off the batch of the newer recipe I favored yesterday, and my better half ultimately had to admit it turned out great. She was advocating I make my previous recipe so I'm glad I stuck to my guns. Splitting four pounds of red meat in such a short time was quite extreme, but that shows how much we enjoyed it. I'll make another batch after we've had a couple of weeks of digestion. This will probably be larger, and I will preserve some of it, either by freezing or by canning if I can finally make good on my overdue by over a decade plan to get started with that. I have plans to further integrate some of the old recipe into the new one, so I'll hold off on writing up exactly what I'm doing until I'm satisfied that I'm done tinkering.

Really, the whole season. I keep expecting the show to be about more than petty human drama (hello, alien worlds?), but that's apparently the crux of the entire story and they will never move past it. I'm sure there's a message about humanity bringing their baggage with them regardless of their destination, but it makes for boring, played-out drama.

That's it in a nutshell, thanks Prof. Yeah, new alien tech and worlds to explore and they're focusing on some whiny chick's failed relationship with her ex? If that's what the books are about that's a hard pass, thanks. Of all the least interesting things to focus on. Rolleyes

Maybe you should stick to Discovery. Seems like it's more your thing. It's the damn payoff for the whole character, I won't go into it further because I don't want to spoil it further, but if that's not your thing then you kind of don't get a whole big part of The Expanse, which is that in a way it's a family drama. It's about about a crew that became a family, because that's what they needed to do to survive.

I agree, was ok with TV Namoi for first two seasons. Giving her the benefit of the doubt after her physical/race changes from the books.
In season 3 her dialog started failing too, so now her scenes are just broken too me. I never thought Marco was presented correctly on TV series.
In the first scene all Ashford had to do was pull the trigger. He was there, prepared to die, all his crew was killed and the villain just started talking, wtf?

What's worst, is TV Alex. We are near certain he is guilty of sexual misconduct on multiple series. I basically ignore him on the screen and focus on other things.

I sure don't want the show to end though, and glad there's now talk of season 7.

is this a common complaint? cuz i 100% agree. there's a gate complex with instant access to thousands of different worlds and yet the show can't stop focusing on humans vs humans conflict. it was great the first 3 seasons, but it's beyond time to move on. anyone that's read the books, does the story eventually move on? should probably spoiler tag the answer in case others care.

The last time troops slept there was 1861.
Looks like the amenities haven't changed much and they still don't have turn down service.

I heard they put a state-of-the-art gate around the entire parameter (it can't be pushed down or knocked over) and have thousands outside. They used military vehicles to block off streets. I think the only thing they're missing is a moat and a dragon.

I hate to be that nerd, but just read the novels. They are better than the show, and although there is some of the human drama, overall it's an amazing series. Light sci-fi of course, not Vernor Vinge or something, but still very enjoyable. Plus they have already said they are going to cram 9 novels into 6 seasons or something, some stuff is going to get lost.

Also, that Alaskan pilot broke like... all the laws.

All this talk of chili, and sandwiches yesterday, now has me craving a chili cheese dog.

Anyone else catch the beginning of S3 of American Gods? Looks good.
