Lucasfilm Games Name Revived

The Star Wars Website announces a new era for Lucasfilm Games, which is basically that they will once again be selling games under the Lucasfilm Games label, a plan they first mentioned almost two years ago. Here's a new Lucasfilm Games Sizzle Reel along with the plan:
Lucasfilm’s legacy in gaming stretches back decades. And with Lucasfilm and the galaxy far, far away entering a new and unprecedented phase of creativity, so will the world of Lucasfilm Games — developed in collaboration with the finest studios across the industry.

StarWars.com is thrilled to reveal that Lucasfilm Games is now the official identity for all gaming titles from Lucasfilm, a name that encompasses the company’s rich catalog of video games and its eye toward the future. To mark this new era, Lucasfilm Games has launched social channels on Twitter (@LucasfilmGames) and Facebook (@LucasfilmGames), which will deliver breaking news and more directly to fans. You can watch a special sizzle reel celebrating the history of games from Lucasfilm below; the Lucasfilm Games logo, featured above, will appear in all future Lucasfilm Games titles.

If and when they release a game, I have read good reviews, I have seen videos of game play which look promising, I will then consider being interested...

Looks like they are just out to establish a social media marketing for all their star wars related stuff pumped out of disney.

Personally I consider star wars the lesser interesting IP in the LucasArts portfolio.

At first I was like: "Ooh, Knights of the Eternal Throne!? New RPG?"

Then, I realized it was an expansion to some shit MMO, and my dreams were shattered.

I'm sure that's why they're going with this name, instead, they don't want the association with all that other stuff LA was known for back in the day. At least they're not giving you false hope!

I just want to see more publishers taking a whack at "core" Star Wars games. There are so many genres I'd like to see brought back or explored for the first time, which those EA knobs have neglected because the profit to effort ratio wouldn't be at least as high as their fucking mobile game.

Totes agree, but this is LucasFilm, not LucasArts. LucasArts made some seriously wicked good and interesting properties - Outlaws, still the best Western game ever. I was wondering what LF ever made besides Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Not much, as it turns out but still a few good and interesting titles - Mishima, Labyrinth, Howard the Duck, Willow, Tucker, and The Land Before Time. They're more or less always been a two-trick pony. And in this case I seriously doubt there will be any Indiana Jones games.

LucasArts was founded initially as Lucasfilm Games in May 1983 by George Lucas as a video game development group alongside his film company. Disney has since revitalized the Lucasfilm Games brand as the licenser of all Lucasfilm-related properties. I hope Disney uses this as an opportunity to give Star Wars projects to the best-suited studio, or better yet, have studios compete for Star wars projects.

I expect this to be purely branding in an attempt at cashing in on nostalgia with no actual changes behind the curtain. Just an additional logo when you load up the games and some executives getting an additional title (along with a bonus).

Now that the movie's are not the big money makers and the theme parks are hurting cause of Covid, , is Disney having second thoughts about getting mostly out of gaming?

Love how they call it "a new era"

when most of the games shown have been out for a few years now, some of them have already lived their life cycle and been put on life support (ie: battlefront 2)

With Ubisoft getting an open-world Star Wars game, and Bethesda getting an Indiana Jones games, that doesn't appear to be the case.
