I have to say I feel sorry for you in the United States. Now that Trump is gone, you can already now see that countries like North Korea, China, Iran will take advantage of you again.
Let's unpack this a bit.
China: I agreed with Trump going head to head with China. They've been the biggest beneficiaries of American hegemony, while also being the biggest abusers of it. 20 years ago it made sense to welcome them into the world community, but their government has only abused that trust and acceptance. However, Trump's implentation of "standing up to China" leaves much to be desired. The Biden admin has said they will be tough on China. We'll see what that means.
North Korea: Again, I agreed with Trump's efforts at diplomacy and engagement. Again, he proved absolutely terrible at it. We'll see what the new admin will do.
Iran: We had a good deal with both carrots and sticks in the
JCPOA. Unfortunately, it wasn't a treaty (not that that would have mattered much). That we withdrew from it with no replacement was terrible, as Iran pretty quickly continued down its nuclear enrichment program which had been mostly halted. Let's see how the new admin handles this, whether they try to restart the JCPOA or not.
If Russia stops fighting, the war ends. If Ukraine stops fighting, Ukraine ends. Slava Ukraini!
