Out of the Blue

Hats off to our chief science officer/chief engineer, as today is Frans' birthday! Please join me in offering a salute and best wishes to the man who single-handedly keeps the starship Blue's News operating on its 25 year (and counting) mission to seek out new games, old dad jokes, and boldly go where no split infinitive has gone before.

Also, with the tackle football playoffs getting underway tomorrow, it's time to kick off the annual Blue's News NFL playoff pool. Because the format of the playoffs changed this season, the site we've used for years is not supporting bracket-style pools, so this will be a pick-em pool like our regular season competition. You can join in through this page using the password "carnage." Feel free to share this with whomever you wish. It costs nothing, which goes along with the nonexistent prize pool, though as I always point out, bragging rights are priceless. Good luck to all who participate, and as always, please don't pee in the pool.

Obituary: Fire Emblem and DMC 5 Voice Actor Brad Venable Died.
Obituary: Marion Ramsey, 'Police Academy' and Broadway star, dies at 73.

Birthday Round-up
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.

Happy BDay Frans! Thanks for all the hard work on the BBS. The mobile browsing experience is so much better now.
Frans worked his tail off on the responsive/mobile conversion, but the project was the brainchild of Kxmode, who spearheaded its implementation.
Seconded, without Kxmode this project probably would still not have happened, and I am very grateful for everything I learned from him. Worship The final responsive conversion (the smilies modal) didn't involve him anymore, but all this only happened because I could stand on his shoulders. I hope my grip sole boots didn't cause any bruises.

Happy Birthday, Frans! Also, good choice on the backend!

WW84 was mindless diversion. It wasn't great but it wasn't execrable.Captain Marvel was objectively worse due to Brie Larson's incredibly wooden and flat portrayal.Especially when you compare that role to Jessica Jones, Scarlet Witch, and Black Widow.

Just to clarify: the site is in its 25th year (since July 1996) but my active involvement started in October 1999. So a few more years to go until my 25th year. Wiseguy

Also (and excuse double post) - next Friday I will have been a member of this board for 20 years (albeit with gaps due to being intermittently banished from the material plane by hobbits).

Happy Birthday Frans! At almost 200 years old, you are almost 0.01% of my age! Impressive!

Has anyone else here noticed (or did I miss it), that Cyberpunk, for all its excellent qualities and hi-tech tricks, is pretty reminiscent of the original Deus Ex? I keep thinking my character is going to wander into a bar and hear the words 'I speeled my dreenk' over and over again... (only the folks who played the original will get it, I guess).

I tried explaining this to the orcs and goblins, but none of them are over 10 years old, due to dwarven incursions. The ringwraiths are over 1000 years old but incorporeal, so no mouse and keyboard gaming for them, I guess... or opening jars, or cooking...

Everything.
Uh, care to expand on that? Do you just simply have a moral objection to all superhero movies or movies in general?

Edit: That's a better choice that "Everything".

Of the recent Marvel stuff, I'd rate Captain Marvel and GotG 2 as the worst.
I thought Captain Marvel was okay. Not great, not terrible. GotG 2 -- I could believe it is the worst. Although I have to admit I haven't even bothered to watch it.
