FireWav Trial

FireWav is new audio software that's targeting PC gamers. Its Minneapolis-based developer Fideliquest makes some lofty claims, saying FireWav's real-time audio processing works in any PC game to attain "hyper audio clarity" that provides "enhanced definition and detail" and "increased soundstage width and depth." They say this helps give players better ability to detect the locations of sounds, promising split-second advantages. This all sounds fanciful, but they are offering a 10-day free trial to hear for yourself whether or not it lives up to those assertions. And though the regular price tag for those who wish to continue on past the trial is quite steep, they are launching with a limited-time offer that makes it much more attainable. Rather than USD$59.99 per year for an annual subscription or $299.99 for a lifetime license, they are currently offering the annual subscription for $19.99 that includes a free upgrade to an lifetime license. In other words, it's yours to keep for $19.99. Here's more:
A cutting-edge audio tool built by professional audio algorithm engineers and tested by the best video gamers around the world, FireWav delivers real-time audio processing in any PC game to attain hyper audio clarity never heard before in the industry. With enhanced definition and detail, players can now decipher every sound and cue the game provides; and with increased soundstage width and depth, they can discern the location of the sound; all of which gives split second advantages over any player not using FireWav.

Audio can give you an edge. Jayson Tomlin, company founder says, "We created this application based on years of development and testing using advanced audio science. The result is sound that blows gamers away when they hear the results and realize that they can play more, play faster and play longer."

App user feedback has been extremely positive. Professional gamer Brandon Falconer (Professional Fortnite player for 100 Thieves) and MiniNinja (Online UK Gaming Expert) use FireWav during their gaming experiences.

I was able to find a comparison video with the sound difference between regular audio and Firewav.

So this expert is just some flake who runs a recording studio in Europe who's claim to fame is a plug in for electronic music production that measures the dynamic range of music a few years ago. His meter is totally obsolete now, superseded by LUFs meters.

Now he is schilling for what amounts to audio magic beans. At one point in the video he intones that you should not try to measure with objective tools the output and instead just judge it with your ears. That is a huge red flag, no real engineer would ever say such foolishness.

He also lets it slip that if you should never measure the frequency levels or bands or curves or dynamic range of the output of this device and compare those results with the original unprocessed sound. He also says if you do you will see no difference, none of that is changed.

This is kind of like the flat earth of music.

Here's their YouTube video, posted on Oct 1. It has 7 views. Not a typo.

Also, "Get a $300 deal for $20!!" LOL

Yeah... a 'Lifetime' deal on something new like that doesn't seem sus at all. Nope. Not at all.

This sounds about as 'advanced' as Monster cables were.

I did find a video on the tech by a mastering engineer and he talks a bit about how it works. (FiDef processing) https://youtu.be/KReGCU_A1Ns So the tech is real

"Emotionalization" of audio based on "brain science" that helps the user "feel the music".... ok dude who cuts his own hair

I think this scam is just playing off a gamer's tendency to become accustomed to the sound effects that they've heard a million times in their favorite game. Give these scammers your money and '"Oh wow it works, I can hear things I missed before!" when in fact it just sounds different than what you are use to. That perception difference may increase your sensitivity or alertness, which has otherwise been dulled by the same headphones/DAC you've been using for years.

You know what also works? Owning more than one pair of headphones! Which I highly encourage, not just to pair with the appropriate music, but to mix up how you perceive the sounds from a video game. There's some brain science for you!

Yeah, the whole price thing is weird and sets off some red flags. I did find a video on the tech by a mastering engineer and he talks a bit about how it works. (FiDef processing) https://youtu.be/KReGCU_A1Ns So the tech is real but seems like an abuse of a patent with the price gouging and I'm just not going to entertain it at those kinds of prices "deal" or not. Just in my initial searching about it seems it was offloading processes in the cloud as FiDef audio plugin like in the video and you need credits to process it. That I understand to help pay remote server costs but now from what their website says they can do it real-time on the app. The price structure hasn't changed much so why the high cost still if there are no servers needed for processing? Right?!?
