Inside is now available for free on the
Epic Games
Store, offering the latest in their 15-day holiday giveaway
promotion. This is yours to keep if you grab a copy before 11:00 am EST
tomorrow. This is yet another affirmation of the accuracy of
this tweet
that spilled the beans on what games to expect. According to that list
tomorrow's free game will be
Darkest Dungeon, and it seems it would be
foolish to bet against that at this point. As for today's giveaway, the listing
includes the sparsest of one-sentence descriptions for this Windows and macOS
puzzle game, saying: "Hunted and alone, a boy finds himself drawn into the
center of a dark project." So we'll turn to the
Wikipedia Entry
for more on Playdead's 2016 follow-up to
Limbo:
Inside is a puzzle
platformer. The player character is an unnamed boy who explores a surreal and
mostly monochromatic environment presented as a 2.5D platform game. The game is
dark, with color used sparingly to highlight both the player and certain parts
of the environment. The game is also mostly silent, with the exception of
occasional musical cues, the boy's vocals, dogs barking, equipment and sound
effects.
