I get that the US wants to protect their satellites and I can understand that there's historically been creative flourish when it comes to naming said agencies/weapons/plans.
But I keep picturing battles in space like in Moonraker when I hear these ridiculous titles. And Pence delivers speeches on the subject like some B-grade actor from Mars Attacks.

Space Force Guardians? Seriously?![]()
fakespyder wrote on Dec 19, 2020, 20:41:Any of the things you fear might happen due to the creation of the "Space Force" was already happening. The creation of this agency is nothing but a bunch of paperwork. It was an attempt by Trump to cement himself into history. Which is silly, his place in history is very well cemented -- it just isn't going to be what Trump thinks it will be.

Pence is scary. He is as crazy as Trump, possibly worse, and yet he is a practiced politician. A Pence presidency could easily surpass the Trump presidency in damage caused to our democracy.
I've been watching Handmaid's Tale with my daughter the last few months and now we're waiting for season 3 ... but ... I have to say, watching HMT and seeing what's been going on in the U.S. these last four years has not filled me with a lot of hope. Now that the nutjob VP is announcing Space Force Guardians as their troop names, it just brought back memories of HMT all over again. I'm sure it's coincidence, but dang.

Calling a guy out just to jump a car? Yikes.. Portable battery banks are cheap these days, Blue. Lots of models come with jumper cables and even a modest capacity (say 20,000mah) is enough to start an average car several times before you need to recharge. Keep it in the trunk or just take it with you on long trips for cheap insurance, and you can also use it to charge your mobile devices away from home or during a blackout.

Well obviously no one wants to be the heavy with their dog but I don't know how you can use positive reinforcement in every instance. Say your dog has an inclination to chew up shoes or furniture? You can discipline them without screaming at them but it seems counter-productive to reward them with treats for 'bad' behavior. I think it's like kids, too many people out there have them - pets/kids - and they really shouldn't.

I managed to get a 3070 ordered on Amazon today. I'm not getting my hopes up until it ships after they canceled my 3080 order yesterday.

Holy shit, you were actually able to place an order for a 3080 and a 3070!? And possibly actually receive a 3070!? From Amazon.. amazing. anytime I look(which admittedly, is not often) they are all sold out, even third party sellers.

How much over MSRP were they?
Mr. Tact wrote on Dec 19, 2020, 18:11:Reports this morning indicate they may have gotten around this blockage, although based on what I've read I'm concerned the Rs may have out maneuvered the Ds, again.
If you had any belief or hope Congress would push through a new relief package, forget it. Senator Patrick J. Toomey (R-Pa.) has put the kibosh on that. McConnell has apparently backed his play. So if anything gets passed I would be very surprised.
