It claimed the game was running well on the base gen consoles and it promoted the game as an RPG, when the RPG elements are actually superficial. It deliberately held back review codes for the console versions and placed draconian conditions on the review embargo. Then it directed people to get refunds from Sony when they weren't able to (something which has only just now been addressed). This is really up there with No Man's Sky in terms of anti-consumer practices.Simon Says wrote on Dec 16, 2020, 23:54:
That's what you get for releasing a game in a late Alpha state. Yes I meant Alpha seeing as most if not all early Betas I played were more polished than this.
Come back in a year, it should be out of Beta by then.
So you haven't played it on PC. Okay. And you probably haven't played it on console either.
Stop spreading misinformation. It's nowhere near as bad as people are saying. It's not perfect, but plenty of people are having a ton of fun with it. Stop acting like it's the fucking end times.![]()

Holy shit. Sony stepped into the ring and delivered a Mike Tyson uppercut :

Refunds across the board and the game has been delisted.
Look at them acting as if their nose is bleeding and act all morally superior as they throw CDPR into the flames like this. It's not like they didn't review the "final" build and decided it was good enough for the quickest buck ever made before Christmas.
By now I feel sorry CDPR. They come across as the naive guys who had the greatest corporate dogs sicced on them because the hype got ridiculously out of hand.

But when the police show up, they should show up in force, and act like police do in the real world: tons of guys and tons of guns. Not one by one. It should be something very serious that you avoid at all costs.

Glad to see that others are also really enjoying the game!
They should have released this game on PC first and then taken 6-12 months for console ports. A lot of the noise could have been avoided.
Game is gorgeous and as mentioned - very well written and just taking in the sights is very enjoyable. I have never taken so many screenshots in a game before.
My system is pretty high-end (9900K@5GHz; 3090 FTW3; 64GB RAM) and I run at 3440x1440 and get 60-80FPS at Ultra settings with DLSS on Quality.
I hope that CDPR continues to build out this gameworld - there is so much potential here - and it's fun already.

when you ask people what did they expect when trying to run the game on an original PS4 that has hardware many generations old?
This is a really, really, bad argument...
It doesn't matter when a game comes out on any console... Consoles (outside of the more recent base vs pro versions) are static hardware (unlike our beloved million-variation PCs), and every game launched on them, should work on them. It's up to those companies releasing on a console to make sure their engine is 'dumbed down' enough that it runs smoothly, not up to the consumers, who rightly assumed a product for their console should work on their console.

People will ***** me out for saying this, but this is just poor people being poor and not using common sense. Everyone knew this would take decent hardware to run. I never understood why they even *bothered* to have this run on last generation consoles. I couldn't even get Trials of Mana to run without slowdown on the PS4, the system it was meant for. (PC? Like butter)

I'm still enjoying the game quite a lot but this is definitely more proof that you shouldn't put game studios on a pedestal. Their shit stinks as much as anyone elses.
Game developers are just human beings who happen to make games for a living. If you want to hold us up to higher standards of conduct, then go ahead
...but don't be surprised if we don't uphold them dsmart
People will ***** me out for saying this, but this is just poor people being poor and not using common sense.
I blindly followed what the PR depts told me and got burned and now am upset at the PR folks rather then look in the mirror at my own gullibility.
