CDPR Getting Full Cyberpunk 2077 Bonuses Despite Reviews [Dec 12, 2020, 2:47 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
A report
on Bloomberg (may require registration or subscription) says that CD PROJEKT will give the development team for
Cyberpunk 2077 their full bonuses, despite bugs and launch issues with the
sci-fi RPG. The company was planning on basing bonuses on critical response to
the game, but they are accepting responsibility for the rushed crunch that
proceeded the game's launch, and will not be penalizing the team for how this
affected reviews. Here's a bit:
Cyberpunk 2077, which came out Thursday, is one of the year’s biggest games and a monumental release for the Polish publisher, which only makes new titles every few years. The sci-fi role-playing game sold more than 8 million copies in pre-orders before launch and has been acclaimed for its mechanics and story, but slammed for the number of glitches and bugs. As of Friday, Cyberpunk 2077 had a 90 out of 100 on the review aggregation website Metacritic -- a strong score that has nonetheless disappointed shareholders. If that score dips below 90, it may no longer meet the threshold that CD Projekt had originally set for bonus payouts.
“We initially had a bonus system that was focused on the game’s ratings and the release date, but after consideration, we believe that measure is simply not fair under the circumstances,” wrote Adam Badowski, studio head and creative director for Cyberpunk 2077, in the email to staff. “We underestimated the lengths and complexity involved to make this a reality, and still you did everything you could to deliver an ambitious, special game.”

CDPR should give the developers their bonuses if they are smart, after all they need them to fix the shitloads of bugs and its best for the people who wrote the bugs to fix them rather new people who didn't write the original code.

I have not hit any game breaking bugs, and hardly any bugs at all in fact (saw 2 npc's in T poses, that's about it I think).
I get the T-pose bug once in a while, at first I thought it was just memeing for his buddies. He still had to die for his efforts. Night city is over populated, I'm abiding by a fairly strict "everybody must die today for a better tomorrow" mantra in this one, except one time killing folks would upset a monk, they got passes.

The game is clearly the victim unrealistic expectations. Myself, I am finding CP2077 working pretty well for me with mid-range hardware, AMD FX8350, GTX1080ti, and 24 gig DDR3. I get 45-50 fps at ultra/psycho settings. No crashing. Granted, it is at 1080p, but still, not bad. As for gameplay being boring. I humbly submit that you are playing wrong. It is meant to be explored. There are tons of cool stuff if you are willing to get out of your console gamepay mindset.
This game isn't like GTA at all.

Same boat, loving it. Now .. Fallout New Vegas on release - couldn't play it for months. Still a favorite.

In the late 90s, the auto makers weren't doing so well, so had spent years saying no bonuses, sorry. Please wait until times are good.
Then they had a banner year, where they would give out tons of cash, based on their own, long-stated profit motive formulas. So the CEO of one invented other measurements and denied most of it anyway. Literally one "failed" measurement was akin to the old joke that the punishments will continue until morale improves.

Oh please, the company that said it would never stoop to crunching, did it anyway and laid a huge steaming unfinished turd for holiday season sales figures, and now wants to congratulate itself for extending that crunch until the game is actually in the state it should have been for release by keeping a promise they made to the poor crunchies in the trenches.
Call me when CDPR gets back to being any where near as impeccable it was when it released Witcher III.
