Cyberpunk 2077 Now the Biggest-Ever PC Launch

Blizzard just announced that by selling 3.7 million units in 24 hours, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands became the fastest-selling PC launch of all time. But that news is so Tuesday. Now PC Gamer calculates that Cyberpunk 2077 immediately swiped that crown (not that this helped the company's stock price). They note that CD PROJEKT tweeted that the sci-RPG had eight million preorders and in a separate tweet they specified that 59% of these preorders were for the PC edition. That leads to a straightforward extrapolation:
59% of 8 million is 4.72 million copies, so CP 2077 is over a million units ahead of Shadowlands even before the purchases made on day one itself. Once those figures are available we'll update the total.

Obviously this comparison isn't apples to oranges, but it's particularly striking that CDPR has achieved Cyberpunk's debut videogame. A chunk of that success is just down to marketing, of course, but it also shows the size of the audience that CDPR has built over its Witcher games.

Yep. Running from a 1tb SSD. lul

I also have SEVEN physical drives (I never delete anything. lel), and looking in the tracelogs from some of the crashes, it looked like one of the crashes was due to timing out when trying to list storage devices. Not sure why it needs to do that when all it should care about is the drive it's installed on, but once I toggled the "slow drive" option on in the settings, I stopped seeing that one.

Edit - and no, the game did NOT launch with old drivers. I'm current now. That's never been an issue before though.

Same here. I don't know why, but i can't play single player games anymore... i just tune out and go and do something else.

Playing the same game with a friend or family member in co-op is a whole different story though.

I know they've mentioned multiplayer and even co-op as a possibility after the first couple of DLC's, so maybe in 2030 we will be set.

But I guess I need to build a new PC before I can properly play this game. I think it's crashing because it's requesting some CPU feature I don't support. I'm using a ten year old i7 980x. Sad It's a terrible time to upgrade too. Oh well. Guess I'm waiting for the patches and DLC anyway.
Bro, you're crashing because your CPU doesn't meet the minimum requirements. I'm pretty sure it's because the 980x doesn't support the AVX instruction set.

I would not be surprised if Blizz and CDPR went out to lunch a fancy eatery about a month ago and came to an agreement. You release on x week and we will release a week later, that way both our PR droids can release best selling blather press releases.

More than likely Blizz picked up the check.

So you have a 4k monitor, with a 1080 ti with old drivers and a ten year old cpu and main board missing features and the game launched?

Congratulations!

CDPR dropped a hotfix, apparently made previous gen consoles playable and adds FPS to most PCs for those that had issues.

I can't even play this game on my current PC. Well, I can, but....

Game defaulted to ultra settings on my 1080 Ti. My native res is 4k. Slideshow.

I turn the settings down, put it in 1080p, but it doesn't show a fullscreen option for me. WTF?! The game supports fullscreen (I hex edited the exe and I can see the config values that it would set should you select it), but it doesn't show it as an option for me. So I have to either set my windows resolution to 1080p, or play with the game in a little window in the middle of my desktop. >_<

This is AFTER I spent TWO HOURS trying to get the game to even run. It would crash immediately every time until I updated my videocard drivers. Okay fine, that kind of makes sense. But now it just crashes at the slightest bump. Change resolution? Kill videocard. Have to unplug HDMI and replug to get my desktop back. It saves the resolution, but I still have to restart the game. For a while, it would seemingly crash at random. Then, somehow, I managed to get it stable and pretty smooth at 1080p and almost ultimate settings.

But then...!!

I started as Nomad. You're in a desert border town, and then you meet Jackie, and then you go across the border, and then it plays a little montage sequence and then it crashes.

Every. Time. So I can't progress further.

I did use Cheat Engine after this to give myself 20's in all stats so I could steal the starter cars and fuck around though. lulul

It is so weird to not have the bugs. I am used to buying a game and getting ALL the bugs. I have had nearly zero and no crashes. I slept weird on my bed and Jackie kept talking without actually moving for a little bit....other than that, smooth.

As for the gameplay, I love the story and the gunplay/combat. Using the samurai sword is REALLY fun. The hacking mini games are cool as well. You can really decimate a place without firing a shot. Reminds me a bit of the Arkham Batman games in that way. The driving sequences are pretty meh to me. I use the fast travel option whenever possible. dude, the internet is melting down over this game right now, it is a buggy money grab and CDPR lied to us. It's the new Fallout 76 or Anthem.

apparently the conslow peasants are having a hard time understanding why it looks so bad ass when CDPR showed it off on a high end PC with a 2080ti video card, but has visual downgrades on the fucking playstation. Apparently for some reason they think a seven year-old $300 conslow is basically a high end PC.

I've watched several streams... all 3 starting factions stories up through beginning of the The Heist (8th main story mission) for each starting faction... I've only seen one or two glitches / bugs... and they weren't game breaking.

That said... the game looks good and fun, but definitely over-hyped. I can definitely wait for some patches / DLC before purchase.

This is like saying I know nothing about cars and I put the anti-freeze where the oil goes, but it's the car makers fault!

Please. I repeat, Personal responsibility to educate yourself on something you use/own.

That's a stupid analogy. This is more like saying "You can use this gas in your car" but then the car won't go over 25MPH. Not everyone is a hardcore gamer. If the box says it will work, it should work.

This news almost guarantees expansions and a sequel (hopefully sooner than 8 years from now) where they can build on this game. Compare quality of Witcher 1 to Witcher 3 expansions.
