Once I tamed the beast performance wise, yeah this seems pretty darn good so far. Telltale FPS vibe.

Could use a "Make Favorites" button as inventory control could be better and plays a well enough roll as this game drops a shit ton of loot. But how you can transmutate, craft, upgrade, easy to understand and use.

If you think the game looks bad, it's probably because you're playing at low-med settings.

Which I'd be fine with. If the game ran well. But I cannot even get a new GPU, anyways. There's a 2060 at Microcenter... for $370. And even if they were available, $400 for a 3060 is outrageous. Guess I'll wait for some kind of performance patch or GPU prices to come down from the stratosphere before playing.

For a 3080, right? They have prioritized the higher-end models, trying to get as much money from what few chips they have, so if it's an Ultra you might be getting an email soon. Cheaper Black and Gaming ones are still on 9/16 according to what I've seen. Here's a report which is supposed to be regularly updated by an EVGA employee.

I have one for all the non waterblocked 3080s, so I GUESS I'm getting close? That's really good info, thanks!

Hmm, I haven't really been looking forward to this game, although I'm definitely going to play it at some point, but it sounds like I won't have a very enjoyable experience with my i5-4460, 970 GTX and 16 gigs of ram. Plus the proton layer. Hopefully this game will be optimised.

Here is a fun thing to do in Cyberpunk2077. When you get your ocular implants, walk around the city and scan random people. Especially the shady looking types. You will get notification of their status, and the ones that have a bounty on their heads. Proceed to murder the ones with bounties in a gory fashion of your choosing and observe the hilarious reactions of the onlookers

Oh man, great fun. Few nice mods, ReShades and some premade toon settings, one excellent Ruby Rose.
It's too bad, we don't have access to some type of makeover station in game. Sadly it looks like we can't change the looks of our toons, after creation.

I was so pissed when I couldn't keep that huge ass weapon from the first mission, The Rescue. I kept lugging it around and it kept making me drop it.
When I had to pick someone up, when I got on the elevator and got in the car. Reloaded tried to put it in the trunk! Nope....

Played some more yesterday and all I have to say is WOW. The game is truly great, but maybe I've been lucky I only experienced one strange bug where I got teleported behind a locker and couldn't leave, a quick load fixed that.

Is it a proper CRPG? Hmmm, too early to tell. It certainly looks as if you have a lot of choice with regards to your own character, but as far as the story and side-quests are concerned it's a bit like Fallout4, so very RPG lite, so far. You get some choice in how to approach missions and quests, in dialogue it doesn't really matter what you say. Witcher3 was a lot better in that regard, but maybe i'm still not deep enough in the game.

The worldbuilding and the writing are awesome though. The combat is fun, even with the bullet sponginess. Melee weapons are OP, but you still need to be careful and plan ahead even during encounters.

So most importantly is it fun? Hell yeah. I'm gonna take my time with this one, the world really invites exploration and Night City itself feels like a character. It feels like a more fleshed out Deus Ex, than a more proper CRPG, but that's not necessarily a bad thing at all.

P.S.

I did try turning Raytracing off just to see what it would look like, and while it does not look bad, it's nowhere near as impressive as with it enabled. It even looks kind of dated. The graphical wow factor is definitely in the raytracing details, this game was designed from the ground up to take full advantage of it.

Loving the game so far.

i7, 3770, 6gb 1060, 16gb ram, ssd... it runs beautifully on 1080 60hz with mostly-high and med settings, 90degree fov. Haven't checked the FPS, but it's been smooth. Installed the new drivers before trying.

As for the game ? Wow. Addicted. It plays like a spiritual successor to Deus Ex, and that set the bar IMO. Huge open city with tons to do, explore, collect, upgrade etc... Very adult orientated, they swear like sailors and nothing is coddled. Haven't gone far enough in to see if choices matter, but on a whole it's a very good game so far. No bugs [except for my cars wheels not always touching ground when parked], 1 crash to desktop so far. Like the Witcher 3 I can't get very far without getting distracted by something else to do.

As for controls, I have 1 hand and use a Logitech G600 with a w/a/s/d bind set up (that includes e, f, q, r, l-shift/control and space via Logitech G-hub [man razer has so much better software than logitech for that]) and I've had 0 issues. I rebound the scanner to keypad plus, but other than that it's a default key set up for me.

Of course it's not just you. Surprise, surprise, a huge and densely-populated open world cityscape is extremely taxing on the entire system. It's kind of pointless to compare framerates unless people mention their CPU as well as GPU, really. Too many people have neglected to sufficiently invest in their processor the past several years, and the start of a wave of next-gen games is slapping them in the face. Brand new graphics cards are being shamefully hamstringed and older but still competent ones are incorrectly blamed for slideshows.

Edit: I've had a few equivalent experiences with the AI so far... Especially in the "help ncpd" events. One of those I helped the cops as asked. Because I didn't holster the weapon as soon as the last badguy was down, the cops went ballistic, trying to kill me while shouting "thank you for saving my life". And yes, I checked my fire to make sure I didn't hit or shoot near any of the corps. It happened twice, at which point I just stopped helping them. AI is just dumb/bugged as fuck.

I must commend them on the successful use of one of the potential of SSDs tho, the loading times are stellar, from 5 to 10 seconds max. The bad? Pop-in is obvious even on maxed settings and a top-end NVME SSD + 8700k.

This game needed another year of development, it was really not ready for primetime in a lot of respects.

hardware issues aside, i've watched multiple people play through the prologue and it's a phenomenal scifi experience. if you've seen the film Strange Days, very much like that. that's an excellent thing imo.

UPDATE: Barely finished the prologue. Already encountered 2 game breaking bugs. The reviews were spot on on that one.

First 1, helicopter scene, once all enemies are dead, story was supposed to resume. The heli just kept circling and circling and circling with nothing happening. Loaded earlier save, happened again. Reloaded again, this time waited until the reinforcements had finished climbing the stairs before killing them, fixed it.

2nd in the same hour, character HP gauge stayed stuck @ zero. Character was invincible, loading a save also solved the problem.

So... in doubt, load an earlier save and try again.

1660ti i9700k here. No issues 1080p medium with high textures. The odd legs missing but totally smooth for me.

No crashes and a few hours in. Ill crank up the settings till it cries.

Seeing as I'm going MSI on this new build I'd like an MSI 6800XT to go along with it. They're not even listed on their Canadian website. So yeah, it's probably going to be a few months as I predicted.

Up here in Canada it didn't take long to realize that once cards started semi-consistently trickling in that Newegg was only stocking their cards at 8pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and if you're both lucky and fast you'll have a card in the cart before the discord bots trigger and the site crashes. Still took me a couple of weeks to just swing by and see but I was eventually at the right place at the right time on a big Asus drop and scooped up a TUF 3080 OC.

Long story short, according to benchmarks, anything below a GTX1080 can't play 1080p60 medium settings. And the 1080 can't lock 60, it dips frequently in the low 50s. So 1080ti minimum for locked 60fps @ 1080p. Not a great situation for 90%+ of people, and especially for the X1/X1X/PS4/PS4P crowd.

Here's what I say to the Xbox One / PS4 crowd... You have old as shit hardware that has held technology back, ditch the consoles, move to the pc so we can always be getting improvements vs no consoles left behind treatment.
