Guys what is the gameplay like? Is it a proper RPG? Is it more linear like Fallout4, where you think you have choices but you actually have none? Combat? Exploration? Fun factor?
Dialogue, so far, seems to mostly consist of one choice which will push the narrative forward, and 1 to 3 or 4 "side questions" of the 'tell me more about....' variety. I'm *really* generalizing here because the dialogue isn't ham-fisted like in a lot of games. Your choice of responses and the dialogue itself are written like you have been living in this world all your life. I can't emphasize that enough, This game doesn't care if you're some causal who's playing this because it looks like GTA yet you're not otherwise into this genre. There is no "you" sitting at home playing as far as this game's concerned in terms of writing. Considering most moments where you have to give a response have a timer to them, it can actually be difficult to carefully choose a response at times due to still fumbling with the lore in your head; I mean this in a good way.
On the other hand you do get some real basic tutorials for combat gameplay with a clever in-lore moment. From there you get to figure out how to build your character entirely on your own. No hints of any kind on what stats or perks you should consider first.
Gameplay is Deus Ex, straight up. Add vehicles and the VR like Braindance segments and there you go, that's Cyberpunk gameplay.
As far a choices, too early for me to tell. What wowed me tonight was the conversations I had. The eye contact in a particular chat; the seriousness of the dialogues; the feeling I'm speaking to real people in this jacked up world - these aren't things I normally expect to be main strengths to a video game, but that seems to be the case here. BTW, I'm not counting the walking up to a random NPC and click "talk", you do get near GTA like responses there.
Oh and the guns have a good feel to them too. The game's a decent shooter to boot. However I was only in one real fire fight in a very contained space. i've heard complaints of the AI in fights, but I couldn't judge that element based on the engagement I had. If it doesn't get better in a patch, someone will mod better AI eventually, I'm sure.
