New NVIDIA GeForce Drivers [Dec 09, 2020, 11:58 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
NVIDIA now
offers new version 460.79 GeForce Windows drivers. Unsurprisingly, these are the
game ready drivers for the release of Cyberpunk 2077, which comes
at 7:00 pm EST tonight. These also support the release version of Minecraft with
RTX, more G-SYNC compatible displays, and one-click optimal settings for more
games.

After reading about the frametime improvements in Cyberpunk (and other games) I did risk it and downloaded these drivers. No problems in the installation, but I did choose Custom Install, and Clean Driver Installation (as I always do).
This is why I never download the latest drivers and usually wait for a driver update or two. I usually only download new drivers anyway if they are related to new hardware support (for example If I get a new graphics card) or they are absolutely required and new software will not work without them. Once in a Blue moon I do update them, especially if they promise extra performance or stability.
I miss the days of WHQL drivers, now-days you download and hope for the best.

Of any NVIDIA driver I've installed, this one gave me a scare. My screen went black and never came back up. I rebooted my PC, it took a bit to actually load into Windows, just displaying those spinning dots in a circular motion for awhile. Eventually it came back up. Definite scare as I never had that happen to me before. I double checked and it appeared the drivers were installed and my NVIDIA Settings were all there so I don't know what happened this time...
I didn't get away so lucky. Installed the new drivers, went to change a few setting and the screens went purple (the first time, black the second time) so I couldn't uninstall them either. Sadly finishing up reinstalling Windows 10 and put all the goodies back on. Also I had to revert back to the previous drivers.

I got mine directly from EVGA, I was on their wait list. If you go to their site and go to the card you want and put in to be notified, you are on their list. I got on very early on, got my card 3 weeks ago, and its been a beast.

I've seen people reporting issues, but I really haven't noticed them myself. Can try this fix that someone posted on Reddit for issues they were having with a Reverb G2; it does seem to help to disable pre-allocated virtual monitors in Win10 via a registry switch.

By their benchmarks, it probably should have said "50% or more." But putting it your way would be "up to 230%," is that better?
Yes because it will be true. I'll come back with an astonished, ASTONISHED feeling if I get a 60% or even 50% gain switching to DLSS.

NewEgg and BestBuy both got some stock yesterday, but they sold quick. BestBuy kept giving me an error adding to cart. I came close on NewEgg. I got one in my cart, but before I could complete the checkout it was gone.
Make sure to have accounts created at the sites in question first, with addresses saved etc.
Even if the order is completed, sometimes they void it from what the twitch streamer was saying. Like apparently newegg has a bunch of cached servers with cloudflare or some such so it's not always live data and they void any orders that are over their number of stock after the fact.
Edit: I haven't bothered to get in on the rat race, just curious about how it's going which is why I was watching the twitch stream. But maybe I should... if I sell a few I could pay for my own 3090 lol.

Yeah I get that all the time, yet this time it never came back up. Was a fright indeed!
If it's anything like Control then they're pretty legitimate claims. RTX is what it is but DLSS is going to be the real champion.

These drivers aren't playing nice with my EVGA 1080ti either. Black screens, grey screens, fps loss in RDR2, slow reboots, fan spinning up during boot. I've reverted to 457.30 for now.

I was still riding with a 760 until earlier this year. This is the game that made the decision for me. Got a 2060 that doesn't really get tested by anything I normally play, so I understand completely.
Really want to see a good comparison video of RTX on/off for this game. Going to wait until I can find an RTX 3070 to play it, hopefully by then more bugs will be ironed out.
