I don't know if it was added since this went public but when I loaded up to play for the first time at 7pm EST there was an epilepsy warning in the intro credits.

They should put in a warning when you start the game and - if possible - add a mode with lighting that does not trigger a seizure for people at risk. Problem solved. No big thing.

The warning is in the EULA, aka the thing nobody ever reads because it's written by lawyers that don't want you to read it.

Plenty of people don't ever suffer an episode of photosensitive epilepsy their entire lives despite being susceptible to it because they've never had the "proper" type of strobing lights flashed into their face, and many only realize they are after it first happens to them in a "live environment".

The game deliberately mimics the sort of strobing lights used to intentionally trigger photosensitive epileptic seizures. While their intention was very unlikely to be "let's give someone a seizure", they clearly thought "this thing that looks like it could give someone a seizure looks like a cool way to tell the player we're connecting them to super-VR".

Well I'm now well read on what happens and when it happens. So I will trigger the event in game and look away. Hopefully a mod or CDPR puts a toggle or modifies the entire scene. I'm probably not photosensitive but I'm not paying for/playing a game to find out if I am. Then the wife will have to call an ambulance for me... for playing a damned video game.

Should be an option. That way people who have seizures are kept safe and the rest of us can enjoy the game as intended by the devs.

Yeah, reading the actual descriptions of the in game device, that closely resembles a real life seizure-causing medical device, make it seem like they just need to scrap that thing entirely, and put a solid color light, or whatever in place of it. Before somebody who is unaware of their own photosensitivity plays that part of the game and possibly dies.

It's not like they are talking about removing all the neon lights from the game or something.

Sure, this analogy would work if Cyberpunk had a warning (it did not), or if submerging the hair dryer in water was a necessary part of completing its usage (as the intentional seizure sequence is in Cyberpunk.)

You're outraged by this outrage because you're oversimplifying it so that it sounds stupid. The reality is that CDPR created a mission designed to create seizures, and put it in there without warning the people it would cause seizures in ahead of time, and didn't give any way to complete the mission without seizures.
Certainly a different situation than the one you imagined so that you could feel superior.

Some here are so quick to get furious over something that may impact them and so quick to try to strawman anything that can't. "Wait, this only impacts people physically different than me? Then clearly it's wrong to want to change. But if it impacted me, well, there'd be hell to pay!"
