GOG.com is giving away The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut for
free. They are using this as an incentive to check out their GOG Galaxy client.
Here are the instructions:
How? Download or update your GOG GALAXY application. Go to the "Recent" view and check the banner at the top. Click the giveaway button if you agree to receive news, updates, and GOG offers. After a while, the game will show up in your games library inside the application and in your GOG.COM collection.

Yep, I did all that was suggested and still no update or offer. I guess I will have contact support.
Edit, they finally pushed the update to me. It appeared from no where at 4:20 Sat.

They give it away every year because every year they , I would assume at least, bring in brand new pc gamers who probably never heard of the Witcher. Up to that point they had probably only played Peggle and the like. In one fell swoop they get a free game, used to the idea of DRM- free, exposed to GOG, and are excited for new games by a stellar company.

I found it in the store, even though I already own it I was given the option to gift it to someone. So that is cool as well.
I had to manually update my client. When I opened it, I had a small notice at the bottom of the window that said it couldn't auto-update. After manual update, the free Witcher showed up on the "Recent" tab with a Claim button.

I obviously had no problem buying The Witcher 3 at GOG after receiving 1 & 2 for free.
Oddly enough, the first one is the only one I've paid for. I got the 2nd one for free. I just checked, it was some kind of giveaway in the fall of 2014. The discount on the receipt shows "DISCOUNT – XA - BIG FALL STAMPS GIVEAWAY - THE WITCHER 2". The first one was on sale for $1.49 during the following winter sale, so I went ahead and bought it since I got the 2nd one free. Then I got the 3rd one free with a GPU.

There is really no reason you probably wouldn't have gotten 1 and 2 at some point. 1 is usually free or 1 dollar on steam sales and 2 is around 3 dollars on steam sales. For that matter, unless you really have zero interest, you probably own 3 which is usually 15 bucks on sale on Steam often. If I didn't already own it and played it to death, I would say it's a gem of a purchase on this day with all that it has to offer. The Next Gen edition will be dropping soon and I believe is a free upgrade for those that own it already. That should be enough incentive to replay it again. I know I will!

Actually I wasn't paying attention and thought it was The Witcher 3.
I know I have gotten my gog copies of the first two witcher games for free before now. I just dont remember when, why, or how.
