XIII Remake Apology

An Official Statement by Microids & Playmagic regarding XIII apologizes for the disappointment many players have expressed with XIII Remake they released this week (thanks PCGamesN). They say some of the technical issues with the game are the result of COVID-19, and they say they are working hard to sort things out:
The highly anticipated remake of XIII, awaited by many fans, came out earlier this week. Unfortunately, players expectations have not been met by the launch version and we hear loud and clear the legitimate criticism and disappointment.

First and foremost, we would like to offer our most sincere apologies for the game’s technical issues. In its present state, XIII does not meet our quality standards and we fully understand players’ frustrations. The pandemic has impacted the game’s production on many levels. Pivoting to home working for the teams has added unexpected delays in the development schedule and the QA process. We hoped we would be able to provide a Day One patch fixing all the issues but the development of this update is taking more time than expected.

We want to assure you that PlayMagic is working hard to solve all the game’s issues. With live monitoring and multiple patches in the upcoming days and weeks, we hope to reach the quality level we all expect for the optimum gaming experience. The first update will be pushed shortly to fix the most urgent issues regarding the controls, frame rate, collisions, rendering and sound. so basically "we knew it was super terrible and broken, but we thought we could make it amazing in the couple weeks after going gold to have a day one patch! Despite how we saw everything before that was delayed and taking longer due to covids"

Yeah, that's not how it works. If it's that broken, you can't fix it in that quick of a time. Your first impressions are going to completely botched.
Look how much time and effort it took to regain the trust of people with No Man's Sky. YEARS of work and patches and adding content, and even now the overall average is still mixed (though the recent is very positive).
A terrible terrible decision. I mean it's not just like 50% mixed reviews, it's 9% overwhelmingly negative reviews. It's hard to get that bad. Minimal effort games on steam often don't get that bad.

Completely opposite to how Cyberpunk was delayed to fix some things instead of relying on having time to make a huge day one patch.

This game is sadly probably donezo. And if the financial pressures were this bad to rush it and they were riding on the edge like most game studios, then the studio is probably finished too. They don't have the advantage of tons of pre sales hype and money from people buying tons of it on day one to keep them going until they fix it.
All seemingly because they didn't want to delay it just a bit until it was at least not completely broken (no idea if the gameplay is redeeming or not).
