Out of the Blue

Unable to resolve the chattering "c" key on my mechanical keyboard, I bit the bullet and picked up a new one. Since I spend an extreme amount of time at the keyboard, I decided to go upscale, and bought a Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT. This is a pricy, premium item, but I have to say I'm very impressed so far. It features CHERRY MX Blue switches, six dedicated macro keys, a padded palm rest, and a solid aluminum frame. It's got an incredible key action, terrific ergonomics, and the macro software, which I use, is much easier and more intuitive than my previous experience with Logitech keyboards. The only problem I've encountered is the macros didn't operate after a reboot until I futzed with things, but I was able to deal with it, and I don't reboot that often, anyway.

The macros should be able to survive a reboot. That sounds like an issue they need to fix in firmware/software.

I assume those are macro buttons on the left , I don't think I could use that keyboard I'd be constantly hitting those buttons, when I use the mouse my left hand holidays there, seems a very awkward placement.

Has anyone tried the XBow keyboards? I don't have tiny doll hands so straight keyboards are a no go for me, need ergo keyboards. I love my MS 4000 ergo keyboard, but I do wish it had backlighting. The XBow keyboards do but they are mighty proud of them, price wise.

Linerar yes. I googled a bit because of this discussion and found this article you may like: https://switchandclick.com/2020/06/20/are-silent-switches-worth-it/
These probably don’t work on low profile.

Same, previous keyboard was a Logitch G15 v2. Liked the little screen but I didn't use it that much. I used it mostly for monitoring CPU temps.

With the K70 MK.2 I do the same with the Corsair logo which change from green to red depending on temps. Pretty cool. It's often dark orange because PC runs mersenne all the time even when web browsing, of course not when gaming.

Mechanical keyboards are great.

I've been using two Das Keyboard Model S Ultimate keyboards from 2012 and 2014, one for home and one for the office. They still work like the day I got them. Never had a problem. Definitely among my most satisfying computing purchases ever.

I love my Corsair k70 mk.2 low profile. You can't really appreciate a premium keyboard until you actually own one. This thing is smooth like butter!
Which low profile switches do you have, are they linear/tactile, and how loud are they? I'm leaning more toward low profile, but I can't stand loud clicky keys. I was also considering the Logitech G815 Linear.

I am using a Ducky Shine keyboard for the last 5-6 years and I am very happy with it.
I've had the Corsair before but the key caps got all shiny after a while and I didn't like the way they felt.
The Ducky has double shot key caps that has a different texture to it and they do not collect oils from the fingers. They feel really nice to type on.

I haven't checked the latest offerings from Corsair but I believe the one Blue has also have the same type of key caps my Ducky has. They were in the process of changing over to these key caps when I got rid of my Corsair kb.

I think backlit keyboards are necessary IMo but ye gods $250CDN for one of those things? I've got a Steelseries RGB KB that I paid 70'ish bucks for and I still think that's drastically overpriced.

As soon as it was announced I bought that one, silent version was a must and we were requested it on their forum for a while. Last year I bought another one, this time it was the MK.2 version.

Reset your wired keyboard
Most Corsair keyboards have a reset function for fixing unexpected issues.
If you have a K95 RGB Platinum or any MK2 keyboards:
Unplug the keyboard.
With the keyboard unplugged, hold down the ESC key.
While holding down the ESC key, plug the keyboard back into the computer.
Keep holding the ESC key until the keyboard begins to flash.
Unplug the keyboard again, then plug it back in.

I'm sure you've tried the above and plugged into different usb ports as part of your troubleshooting. If you're still experiencing macro loss i would warranty replace it.
