Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed Again

Despite previous indications that CD PROJEKT RED was determined to release Cyberpunk 2077 on November 17th, in a new tweet they announce the game has suffered yet another delay, and is now expected on December 10th. The sci-fi RPG was originally planned to come on April 16, 2020. Then early this year it was pushed back to September 17th. Despite repeated assurances that it was on track, in June it was announced that it was being pushed back to November 17th. The development team has already had to crunch, and the game is officially gold, but word is it is still being set back by three weeks:
Hey everyone,

Today we decided to move to release date of Cyberpunk 2077 by 21 days. The new release date is December 10.

The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current-gen, next-gen, and PC at the same time, which requires us to prepare and test nine versions of it (Xbox One/X, compatibility on Xbox Series S|X, PS4/Pro, compatibility on PS5, PC, Stadia)... while working from home. Since Cyberpunk 2077 evolved towards almost being a next-gen title somewhere along the way, we need to make sure everything works well and every version runs smoothly. We're aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do.

Some of you might be wondering what these words mean in light of us saying we achieved gold master some time ago. Passing certification, war 'going gold', means the game is ready can be completed and has all content in it. But it doesn't mean we stop working on it and raising the quality bar. On the contrary, this is the time where many improvements are being made which will then be distributed up by a Day 0 patch. This is the time period we undercalculated.

We feel we have an amazing game on our hands and are willing to make every decision, even the hardest ones, if it ultimately leads to you getting a video game you'll fall in love with.

So.......I was just ready to pull the trigger on a dedicated 1TB SSD specifically for this.....

Oh Cyberpunk 2077, why do you repeatedly break my heart Brood

Same, I thought my 8 year old i7-3700 would be horribly outmatched, but benchmark sites say it's extremely close in performance to the recommended CPU. Started shopping for SSD's lately rather than planning a new build....

On a plus side, hopefully can catch a new SSD on a Christmas sale now.

As long as your CPU is within 10 years and you have at least a SSD drive and decent GPU, you should be fine.

i7 980x here. Undecided Straddling that line. Guess we'll see. Been planning to build a new system but the new shit ain't out yet. I want the best there is. Lasts a lot longer that way.

What's hilarious is that over on the Star Citizen subreddit they're poking fun at the delays. Cyberpunk 2077 was originally due to be released April 2020 and was delayed until December 2020, which is a delay of eight months. Meanwhile Squadron 42 was originally meant to release in 2014 and is so far behind that CIG isn't even telling backers when to expect the game anymore.

The hidden story that no one knows is that this is becoming the 1st person aspect of Star Citizen. It will ship when Star Citizen does. You heard it here first folks.

I look forward to downloading the preorder to my neural drive in 2078 and playing it in mecha-cerebral reality.

Plot twist! This is 2078 and you're just experiencing the pre-game cinematics to elicit an emotional response when you actually get to play. Think about it...your entire life has somehow been building up to this very moment. Anyone who says otherwise is probably just a mecha-cerebral liar.

My line should be: "fine with me, gives me a few more weeks play Watch Dogs: Legion", but since that game is launching without the full featureset (all multiplayer, including the interactive dynamic invasions), I'll be waiting till Dec to play both of these.

Can't really be upset, 2020's almost over though.

Don't forget to vote people.

Also buy this game from GOG.

Gone gold and then delayed is odd... guess we're looking at a big day 1 patch, but that's normal these days anyway. Looking forward to this hopefully have my RTX 3070 by then because I really want to play it with ray tracing and DLSS.

You're killing me Smalls. They really twisted that meaning of going gold around didn't they? In my years of experience... gold is ready for print. The console games I worked on we never said it went gold until we passed certifications.

Now I'm wondering if they'll make the Christmas season at all. Can't imagine them missing it, though, unless some serious bugs pop up.
It is well known that I cannot err--and so, if you should happen across an error in anything I have written you can be absolutely sure that *I* did not write it!...;)
