Oh look, another Nvidia GPU you can't buy anywhere for years and 100% not for that price.. maybe twice that if you are lucky, 3-6x that if scalpers win again.

had a laugh, went to MSI, 400$ above MSRP ... why even bother with these bullshit reviews if every nvidia GPU is a paper launch? What is 3080 available? Me checks.. oh, 2% of current orders shipped in europe. YEAH. Everything is going JUST FINE for Nvidia

If AMD makes a card that competes and is available (in Europe) I am going AMD.....

Worthless paper launch because this is Nvidia. All I care about is what AMD has planned at this point.

Good value GPU paired with not enough VRAM... Nvidia, you greedy green goblins!
I hope AMD forces Nvidia to offer some 3070/3080 Ti/Super soon with enough VRAM to play modern games at maximum details.

So it's 500$. Yeah, if AMD can match that performance and undercut it by say 50$ it's game over man, game over!

I might have some details wrong on this, but I think Nvidia's production bottleneck is the GDDR6x memory... I believe AMD is using more readily available memory, but compensating with a much larger cache. If memory is the the production bottleneck then it's possible that AMD wil actually have a competitive product with stock at launch.

I know this card is a dramatic upgrade over the 1070ti, but is it really worth it? It seems to be down on a lot compared to the 2080ti. Perhaps we need to wait for a 3070ti version?

I also wonder, should I upgrade my entire build that is 5 years old now or will it still be powerful enough to pair with the 3070 and not be the bottleneck? 16gb of memory and an i7 that I can't even remember the version. All 5 years old now. It's been beast at 1080p maxed out games and I do not have a 4k monitor but obviously know if I ever went 4k, it will be crippled to the floor.

If you've waited this long you can wait another month for the AMD cards, to start hitting stores and then you will be able to make a final decision.

In the case of the 3070, Nvidia is still using standard GDDR6 memory. It's likely that they're just getting terrible yields with Samsung which could be why there are rumors that they're trying to get back together with TSMC.

And if the bitboys can release glaze3d with twice the performance for half the price it's really game over, unless intel releases larrabbee with thrice the performance for a third the price!

Tomorrow AMD will tell us for the first time officially how good Big Navi really is. Wait until then and decide after that presentation which way to go, I'd say.

Not sure what the reference is, but you're making it seem like it's going to be impossible for AMD to compete with Nvidia while at the same time making fun of me? On another note I just noticed that the 3070 features GDDR6 memory, and not the high speed 6x of the 3080.

8GB doesn't seem right. It doesn't make it very "future proof". Might as well just stick with 2000 series for the next few years.

Yeah, everyone seemed to realize 20 series was a much better deal at the moment and the stock is gone for them too.
I was really looking forward to the Ray Tracing, after finishing my first win 10 install.
But now 80% of all the cards are gone in both series and the other 20% are probably $1000 minimum.
But I don't get a sense you're listening, so, fuck it, let's go to Hell !

What most of these challenged reviewers don't get is that very few of us play games at 4k. First off a decent 4k monitor cost more than the computer, 2nd, FPS is far more important than resolution in most games and 3rdly, how many of us are going to spend $550+ on a graphics card, when less expensive ones do the trick?

It's worst than that... even though I like Nvidia a lot, it's sheer stupidity to try to tell us and sell us, 8k dreams.
We are in the middle of a global recession, and of course it's not hitting every country the same way and time.
But there's no way out of it in a pandemic and there's a lot of people out of work.

4k is this weird beast which has become the go-to metric in spite of the fact that very very few people use it and, as Steve from GamersNexus said, the posts are continuously being moved with each generation. They still include trickle down benchmarks for 1440p and 1080p so that's always great but the big selling point in the case of the 3070 is that it's able to do what the 2080 Ti could (roughly) do for $700 less across the board so they really want to put emphasis on the cost to performance.

I may be wrong, but that would make it the first time in my life I was ever wrong, but the point I think Beamer is trying to make is why does AMD have to be cheaper by any amount if it performs as well or better than an Nvidia product.

I'm just laughing at the two ifs. IF they can match and IF they underprice THEN NVIDIA is in trouble.
Two "ifs" kind of make me laugh, because at the most simple case, it's one of 4 scenarios.

I've always gone with nvidia's x60 cards over the years (often the best price/performance mark), usually skipping a number or two on the X spot. I have a 1060 now, skipped the 1660 and 2060, so I'm interested to see the specs and price of the eventual 3060 card. Probably not gonna be in production numbers to be sold at standard retail price until beginning of next year, looks like.
