As a Canadian you should know that neolibs =/= left. And you seem to know it on some level, you can't be left AND corporatist, it's one or the other, you can't be both.

Dems are center right on economic policies, have been since Cigar Clinton. They like to make social appeals to the left with the 'woke culture', but that's just it, a fake facade for votes so they can pass their center right neolib economic policies that kneecap most of the social work, and so the suburbs center right neolibs can feel good about themselves while doing exactly jack shit to help the poor.

It's their whole con since Clinton.

Biden is merely a buffer between disgrace and recovery. If he isn't elected, the recovery process will just get longer (if we're not all dead). I think it's something like 93% of candidates who have the most campaign funding win. So it's basically power hungry, self-absorbed individuals, with a bit of money who typically run for potus. Not intelligent people who truly want to lead (I don't think intelligent people want that job). It just so happens that a wealthy narcissist with half a brain took the crown this time. And I'm sure decent and intelligent people voted for him (the alternative was pretty bad, so I can understand). The only thing I can say is that we're lucky we still have an 8 year term limit. Let's just hope that if he wins, we can survive the next 4 years, because he's already been doing a pretty good job killing us.

But I'd truly love to see him lose partly for the entertainment value when we see him kicking and screaming while getting carried out of the white house like a big narcissistic baby.

Yep. Hopefully it will eventually take its proper place along side the Dred Scott decision and other SCOTUS mistakes. Unfortunately, I don't have much hope I will live to see it happen.

Well, it would definitely require the overturning of the "Citizens United v. FEC" decision. But yeah, it will probably take a constitutional amendment to really fix it. Which is extremely unlikely to happen.

Beyond that, what's the point? Since they are both beholding to corporate interests you can wipe that off the slate. And anyone who thinks Trump isn't, because he's rich, doesn't fully understand the intricacies around politics.

America is over man. It's more likely headed to secession and/or civil war than it is getting better. Even up here things are starting to head that way with some in the western and maritime provinces going their own way. Enh, might be better for all in the long run.

Unfortunately, corporatism is how the game is played. It's how you get money, which is crucial in winning elections. It's not really any particular politician's fault. Until the laws (perhaps even the constitution) are changed, both parties will be beholden largely to monied interests. And the money holders are corporations. I keep posting this because it so completely encapsulates the problem:

Multivariate analysis indicates that economic elites and organized groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on U.S. government policy, while average citizens and mass-based interest groups have little or no independent influence. The results provide substantial support for theories of Economic-Elite Domination and for theories of Biased Pluralism, but not for theories of Majoritarian Electoral Democracy or Majoritarian Pluralism.

In short, the legislation that corporations desire almost always get made into law, while the legislation that benefits the average person has merely a random chance of being chance of being passed.

You know something is very broken when "the greatest nation on earth" with a population of 330 million can't produce better candidates than these two senile farts.

Biden isn't the most exciting or dynamic or even smartest candidate, but I can hardly think of someone more qualified. And he's truly an empathic person who cares about others.

At the close of the kaddish, I walked over to him and asked the same question that must have been on everyone else’s mind: “Senator Biden — what are you doing here?”
And he said to me: “Listen, back in 1972, when I first ran for Senate, Mrs. Greenhouse gave $18 to my first campaign. Because that’s what she could afford. And every six years, when I’d run for reelection, she’d give another $18. She did it her whole life. I’m here to show my respect and gratitude.”
There were no news outlets at our service that day — no Jewish reporters or important dignitaries. Just a few elderly mourners in a basement laundry room.
Joe Biden didn’t come to that service for political gain. He came to that service because he has character. He came to that service because he’s a mensch.
After Trump, I can't imagine anyone better.

No they will fix it, not magically. The only people who believe in magic have destroyed our credibility in the real world.
Every single recession has been solved by getting money in the population's pocket, so they can spend. Every single recovery in history of the world.
So no magic is needed. Just like they did in 1992 and 2008 they fucking fix the mess these delusional psychotic sociopaths cause.
They will likely have a majority in all 3 houses and have the ability for real change. The easiest fix in the world, is creating jobs.
Our infrastructure upgrades are 40 years overdue, that's when in 1980 the gop start giving taxes people paid, to the wealthy.
2008 not only were they going to update the infrastructure but remember the cross-county high speed rail system?
gop killed it, they didn't want Obama to have a win in Texas, Florida and California which was the 3 starting states, iirc.
They were going to get 100s of thousands of jobs, trillions in funding but no, gop stopped it. Not this time.

While it's true, we may never get the trust or respect back the gop cost the US but we will recover.

The dotus is ego driven and only cares about personal loyalty along with being unethical. His leadership is transcriptional, he's untethered to truth and institutional values. We can't prevent all the damage this forest fire of a presidency will cause but we can contain it.

Conservative commentators and faith leaders focus on favorable policy initiatives or court appointments to justify their acceptance of the damage he's doing, while deemphasizing the impact of basic norms and ethics. That is both hypocritical and morally wrong. Imagine the outcry if President Hillary Clinton had conducted herself in similar fashion in office.
What is happening now is not normal.
It is not fake news.
It is not okay.

Much like after a fire, the forest comes back better than before. There is reason to believe this fire will leave the presidency weaker and Congress and the courts stronger, just as the forest fire of Watergate did.

Far from creating a new norm where lying is widely accepted, this administration has ignited a focus on truth and ethics. Parents are talking to their children about truth-telling, about respect for all people, about rejecting prejudice and hate. Schools are talking about values-driven leadership.

The fire will make something good grow.

TLDR
I disagree that the country will never recover from this one term abortion of a president.
Recovery starts on January 20, 2021.

There's been a mass outcry not to trust that political hack running the FBI. He could not even pass Security Clearance.
Former FBI and National Security say it wasn't Iran that hacked the proud babys emails, likely didn't get hacked.
They still say it's only Russia, who is the international threat and proud babys, nationally.
