Cyberpunk 2077 Preorder Bonus

GOG.com announces a digital comic that's an exclusive preorder bonus for buying Cyberpunk 2077 through them. They also note that since GOG is owned by CD PROJEKT RED, buying the DRM-free version of the sci-fi RPG on their site means 100% of the proceeds go to the game's developers. Here's the pitch:
With the release of Cyberpunk 2077 coming on November 19th, our offer becomes even better. We're excited to reveal the exclusive digital comic that will be available for everyone who buys the game on GOG.COM.

Cyberpunk 2077: Big City Dreams is a 50-page digital comic about TASHA and MIREK, two scavengers living in Night City. They’re stealing cyberware and spending money on parties and braindances.

TASHA is the loud one, she needs constant changes around her to breathe and she wants more street cred to become the most famous gangster in the city. MIREK is the calm one, he likes what he has and he doesn’t need much but he knows that Night City kills anyone who believes in the status quo.

You run, you fight, you change or you’ll die… One day MIREK finds a braindance about a happy family and sees a chance for himself. The problem is, MIREK’s dream doesn’t compute with TASHA’s dream of becoming a famous gangster…

The fact that they get 100% was the major deciding consideration for why I purchased on GOG. And as ldonyo pointed out, there are some other bonuses.

Hrm, well it's 100% certain (well, 99%, barring meteor/asteroid strikes, etc.) that I am going to get Cyberpunk 2077 on GoG at some point, I don't know that this comic is enough to sway me to pre-order. The real question is, can I stay true to my initial plan of not buying Cyberpunk 2077 until a GotY version with all the DLCs comes out in a year or two, or am I going to give in and buy it in November?

I'm kind of in the middle. Pretty sure I don't want the launch bugs, yet probably don't want to wait for a GOTY either. Since I intend to build my new gaming rig in the Spring... Cyberpunk is probably the choice to show off all the capabilities of the new Rig. If I buy it in the Spring... I'm fairly willing to buy a season pass or whatever for the DLC, too.

How about the soundtrack instead? A digital comic is zero incentive for me personally. Jeez Louise, it wasn't that long ago when redbook CDs or digital soundtracks were par for the course and not just another way to monetize shit. Look at Outlaws, they could have easily charged for what is the greatest game soundtrack of all time but they didn't. Like Archie and Edith sang, Those were the days....

Looks like the soundtrack is included: https://www.gog.com/game/cyberpunk_2077

Anyways, I usually prefer Steam but in this particular case GOG it is for me.

Well... I did say buy... not pre-order. I wouldn't pre-order without some sort of financial incentive either, since I pretty much don't pre-order at all. Cyberpunk would be one of the rare exceptions because I trust the company.

Agreed. I try to buy Gog whenever possible. However, what I'd like to see from pre-orders is a monetary discount--10% is a nice, round number...;) That seems like real incentive to me--the usual bait--like digital comics, etc.--doesn't move me at all.
It is well known universally that I do not make mistakes--so, if you should happen across an error in that which I have written, please be assured that *I* did not write it!...:)

Unless I misunderstand business, it take money to run game stores and especially fund gaming server systems.
They charge the same price, because they are funding the future of their company and it's tax write off.
So their business grows and they all make more profits. Highfive

This makes more sense when you're talking about Epic, because GOG also charges a horseshit 30% cut to other developers/publishers.

I also think it's weird the game is the same price on Steam as it is on GOG. If only altruism is the incentive to get the game on GOG, well... good luck with the gamers.

Historically, physical retailers would be likely to dump a publisher's catalog if the publisher was undercutting their prices online. I don't know if Valve goes in for that kind of tit-for-tat, but it wouldn't be a wholly unreasonable stance. Do you want to work with your retailers, or not? An agreement that says, "We'll do everything we can to get people not to buy from your store" makes for a poor business relationship.

Now, when Ubisoft sells AC games cheaper on Steam than on UPlay, I have no idea what that's about.

Altruism, no DRM at all, plus the ability to download a fully-functional copy of the game you can install on whatever PC you like.
