That's the definition of "crunch". Crunch, in general, is unacceptable in most 1st world countries btw, with strangely the only exception being the super exploitative video game developer production niche. I guess that's one of the long list of stupidities the US does that other 1st world countries seem to tolerate as an exception for the most part for the moment.
And saying exploitation is widespread doesn't mean it is acceptable. Would you say *insert something unacceptable here* is acceptable if it were widespread? It's pure nonsense.
